  7. Excuse me, I've had a few drinks, but I watched Walk the Line today and there's a moment where Cash's label mentions playing for rapists and murderers at Folsom Prison and how the public would respond. Cash says, "Well, then they ain't Christians." I had a moment where I thought about that in the context of Kanye supposedly being a Christian and potentially spinning the company he keeps with a "forgiveness" angle.

The difference is, Cash's performance is a broad stance against the prison system (something Kanye has spoken about in the past, which is good), but it's not like he took Charles Manson out on tour to platform him. Kanye's angle seems specifically designed to discredit victims of sexual assault, homophobia, etc. as if those perpetrating it are dealing with worse than those they've inflicted pain upon.

Over the last few years Kanye has just become the asshole everybody always said he was. It's incredibly painful because I genuinely believe he was misunderstood for so long but starting with the Trump shit it's just gotten worse and worse. He/his music is so important to my taste in music and honestly to me in general but I fucking hate that I have basically started seeing him as a person the same way that everybody that I always defended him to did

I thought the avengers pic had to be satire. I’m confident Kanye would be best friends with teenage redditors

  15. Kanye West has always been a terrible person who only cared about himself but he released 5 classic albums and we all ignored - now he’s still just a shitty terrible human who makes dogshit music

Yeah Kanye has always been a…not great person. I mean the Taylor Swift VMAs incident was in 2009. He’s been a shitty person for well over a decade.

All of it was always there. You only had to listen to the lyrics to know, let alone interviews and so on. He was just more stable.

The misogyny was always there, which you could say should have been enough and that's fair, but we all indulge in art that is regressive in certain ways but has merit in other ways. I do think this kind of behavior is different than most of his notable incidents pre-"Bill Cosby Innocent" tweet. The Taylor Swift VMA's interruption is the least important of any of the harmful things he's done, and is more in line with general celebrity antics than the way he's been unraveling the last six or so years. I think it's maybe a slight oversimplification to say the things he's doing and saying now are the same things he's always done. There's a throughline, but since probably the Cosby tweet/"I would have voted for Trump" rant, it's gotten increasingly unhinged and troubling.
