pablo is more interesting as an idea than an album to me, the whole art-is-never-finished thing is very cool but i find several of the songs too flimsy to give it weight

i guess ppl are saying the same thing about this record but idk, the gospel elements are way better integrated than either on pablo or jesus is king, and the album's arc from experimental and fragmented to glacially beautiful works really well. i have zero issue with long albums btw and there isn't a lot on here i'd identify as filler

    also fuck kanye i guess

also was pretty surprised by how good this album sounds sonically given how quickly people labeled it "unfinished" as soon as it dropped

There is a verse on here where you can hear they had to splice in some voice memo to finish the verse

    not a doctor

Nothing funnier than a dude with millions of dollars complaining he missed out on a bag.

Some line alluding to his kids starving, give me a break. I get its hyperbole but c'mon man.

I think the music itself sounds pretty good too in a lot of places, sometimes even great. That's not surprising really, I have been saying that he is still a great producer, if a little scattered. But Kanye really should hang up the mic. He's done and has been for a while. He has nothing to say, and even if he does he can't seem to find a way anymore. Maybe not forever, but definitely for now.

This really illustrates my point. Listen to Kanye's lyrics on that album and then to those on his last few albums including this lol

Look, I truly don't want to be someone saying "you can never discuss this album" and I'm certainly not suggesting that you're a piece of shit for doing so.

But I do find it incredibly jarring! He's gone out of his way to put a rapist on this album. Personally, I can't compartmentalise that and treat this like any other piece of art, even with caveats. For me, whether this sounds good or stands against his other work really fades into insignificance. That was the only point I was making.

All Souljah Boy had to do to get on the album is remind Kanye that he’s been accused of beating women and he would have had a prime spot.

Wtf is this song with Pop Smoke. Its so odd, the vocal from Pop sound miserable. Is the original song supposed to bleed through the vocals like this? Can I get a beat to kick in here as well?

It reminds me of some bullshit interlude that would be between two acts in a high school play.

That said Fivio blew me absolutely away with his verse. He kills that song.

I don’t think there’s anything Kanye can do to experience any kind of reckoning at this point. He already said slavery was a choice, vote for Trump, he supports rapists and homophobes, etc. He releases absolute ass water albums and remains as popular as ever, getting supports from artists who are considered woke or good. He’s as untouchable as they get.

"i hope he's on some path to reckoning with all the mistakes he's made over the past few years"

He just was on stage with Manson and DaBaby and Manson is part of this album soooooo definitely not.
