Being a bad person doesn't matter just like being a good person doesn't matter. I'm not going to give a pass to terrible music just because the person making it is a nice guy. When you make bad music and operate in a lane that lacks indie cred, it makes it that much easier for me to dunk on you for being a bad person as well.

Am I the only one that remembers when the default take was to NOT care about whether or not an artist in the auteur class is a good person? Like how Roman Polanski got a standing ovation at the Oscars, but Adam Sandler or Michael Bay would never, because one is considered "prestige media" (like Brand New and Kanye West) while the others are not.

I’m sure there’s plenty of positive comments, but that’s a very selective group of people. It’s disappointing to see that the video has already been viewed 5 million times, but I’d wager a lot of those views were just out of curiosity. The fact that he hasn’t been able to sell out his listening party in New York City says a lot about how many people stopped fucking with him

 

Eh, UBS is basically Long Island, and its shows always tend to sell slower than the city arenas do. MSG or Barclays probably would have been a different story.
