These listening parties are typically poorly run in the sense that they do not start (the actual listening party) on time and they go late into the night because it takes Kanye and whoever else forever to get out on stage.

That Long Island listening party has been on sale for a few hours and it's not selling well at all. Putting aside that he's a piece of shit, who actually thought people would pay $370 for a ticket to listen to an album? This is tomorrow night, what are the odds they cancel it?

I don’t understand these events, it’s literally just him hitting play on the record?

Was that co-headline show with Drake the last real live headline performance from Kanye?

Chicago is pretty much sold out so I guess those folks would(hometown probably a different story)

He puts together some form of stage production to go with them but yeah they’re not worth 200 dollars or more than that.

and yeah, that was the last performance

yeah, but like in 2017 when Pablo came out and he did this. It was revolutionary. And the same with the Donda parties. I’m not sure about this one and certainly the man hasn’t helped himself at all, but it was different back then. It felt more than just pressing play.

Didnt he perform in Miami or something and actually done the hits and sounded good? Just been nothing since.

  8. It has to do with goodwill and talent. At the time of Pablo, there was the Cosby tweet, but people hadn't fully turned on him at that point (hindsight is 20/20). You didn't even have to be there. I saw the listening party in theaters for my birthday and just hearing a new Kanye album for the first time on THOSE speakers with a small crowd felt significant. Now, due to the fact that 1) first and foremost, he's a nazi and 2) he hasn't finished a project since then, you couldn't catch me giving this man any money whatsoever.

Just watched the new video (song is not great)…but did people really turn on him? I know not to read the comments, but I’d say they were 98% positive…not one person calling him a nazi lol.

Is the narrative about Kanye in the mainstream not relevant to his standing with hip hop fans?

Yes. The man is the 18th most streamed artist on Spotify. I don’t even think he’s lost standing with mainstream fans. If he announced a tour tomorrow it would be sold out in a day. The only thing I can really chalk it up to is that I think for most people, unless someone DOES something bad, MAYBE they will lose standing. But as we see with Michael Jackson, chris brown, etc., the cynic in me just assumes that most people don’t care that much. This country elected Donald Trump for god sake. But i mean, take this with a grain of salt, look at my username lol

He’s still insanely popular but I’d wait and see what a tour looks like and even first week sales

I think anyone who thinks fuck it knows Kanye is an anti-semite isn't gonna listen to his music at this point and the people who still fuck with him don't give a shit

I'm Oyster Bay, born and raised (have since relocated to Manhattan) and I believe Jesse Lacey should be uncancelled because of how critically acclaimed Brand New's music is. However, I'll be the first to send All Time Low to The Hague because they represent everything about why pop punk is trash, and I'd cackle in joy if they ever got arrested.

My majority Democrat-voting Jewish friends never stopped bumping Kanye. Two of them are going to the UBS show tomorrow, one from Hicksville and one from Plainview. I have not bought a ticket yet because the last Kanye project I liked was Pablo (8 years ago), the prices were absurd and he's too much of a cancel risk. I would go if I was guaranteed a peak artistic experience, even with the Nazism arc, but I'm not, so no point in me pissing away for a likely mediocre product.

not comparing Brand New to Kanye, obviously Kanye is a bigger critical deal. But I was comparing Brand New to terrible pop punk bands, many of whom have definitely done sexually inappropriate things to underage fans. I hate pop punk, and Brand New didn't get really good until they ditched that sound. TDAG got an 8.5 and Science Fiction got an 8.3 BNM. All Time Low would never. Fall Out Boy, with Pete Wentz and Andy Hurley's problematic asses, would never.

Many reviews of Deja Entendu compared Brand New to Bright Eyes, which Lane said was "better than being compared to New Found Glory... that group of bands is getting old very quick and played out."[108] Lacey criticized mainstream pop punk in a 2003 Rolling Stone interview, referring to it as music "about how we've been wronged and got our hearts broken and nobody understands," and said that Brand New would be following in Radiohead's footsteps rather than Good Charlotte's.

Imagine thinking this website, this forum, of all places on the internet... needs to be taught who Brand New are

Obviously I don't agree with anti-semitism. I'm not going to tell my Jewish friends what type of music they can and can't listen to, or whose concerts they can and can't go to. Kanye's too big to fail. The only people interested in hardcore cancelling him are terminally online. We all acknowledge that he's gone crazy and shouldn't be taken seriously with anything he says outside of his music. There are many proud Jews who still bump Kanye.
