And yet, I was reading the liner notes for Fear of a Black Planet last night (notably the first Public Enemy album after Griff left or was dismissed) and oh hey look at that, they thank Louis Farrakhan in the acknowledgements

 

So I did not imagine some the hints after all, they just cut the Black Israelites-ish shit out lol They must have been perplexed

 

Farrakhan was never widely denounced in Hip Hop despite mostly external and some internal pressure, it’s just that at some point his presence started fading because more and more rappers were born so late that they don’t really know Farrakhan
