Very pleased with this song.

 

I like how the narrative changes slightly in the end. I was more excited by the boldness of the title track but I can already tell this is going to be a fun album.

I'm loving this direction for her. I think it's cool she used star-crossed as the intro to the era, but then followed up with a more classic Kacey style song. I do hope there's other more adventurous stuff in the vein of star-crossed too, but damn she can just write such a great song, and I think justified does a really good job of walking the pop/country line.

 

the opener was great. this track is great. comparing this to the lorde rollout is insulting

The band (likely Chad) knew Hayley could easily get in contact with Kacey for a guest vocal spot. Once Hayley heard the part she wanted to be on it.

In the writing for Golden Hour she was tweeting about going back and listening to the music from 2002-2007 era. It’d be interesting if she ever works from someone from one of those bands.
