Listened 2.5 times and I really love it. The stretch from Sway to the Architect is amazing. I'm pro Anime Eyes, and the closer is great too.
I thought people were being overreactive about "Anime Eyes" until it hit ... that part and I got why.
I've never been the biggest fan of hers and still won't be after this but it's a pleasent listen. Might come back to it on occasion.
Just got through "Sway" and that was jaw dropping. Really loving the whole thing so far and the production is fantastic, it feels alive.
I can tell I'm going to get sucked into this album on relistens. Anime Eyes is a highlight. I can see why people don't like it but it hits a sweet spot for me.
I'm both excited and scared to get to "Anime Eyes" based on the split reactions here. EDIT: Okay, that was awesome, reminded me very much of a musical. My kids are going to love that part.
I like this! I am a bit frustrated, however, that this traffics in the same sonic palette as the last two albums. I know the songwriting is the point here, but sounds that seemed revelatory to my ears in 2018 definitely don’t in 2024.
Yeah I really love it too. Feels super throwback. Can’t help but think of Mamas & Papas, REM, and Fleetwood Mac.
