I found this to be a very... nice listen. The kind of album that glides along and is pretty, but doesn't really do a ton. Not sure how much I'll want to come back to it, but it's nice. The music and visual vibes absolutely match
Yeah, it’s pleasant. Should be a nice go to for upcoming spring and summer afternoons. I really liked Giver/Taker and I really did not like Anime Eyes
man i just really dont think i like cardinal as the opener. deeper well would have been such a better way to kick this thing off
Also loving Sway. Listened to it first based on all the posts here and wasn’t let down. I like it so far, the songs are obviously more stripped down on the whole, more country & folk leaning, but still with enough hooks to draw you in with few listens. Definitely seems like a stripped back follow-up to the last album. Not sure it’ll elevate her any further though (not that it matters really, she’s still massive).
This is so enjoyable. The run of Heart Of The Woods-Jade Green-The Architect is the immediate highlight for me
Golden hour -> star crossed -> deeper well love during sunset -> drunken breakup at 3am -> morning after with a cup of coffee these work really well as a trilogy
Same, there’s a lot of classic song structure throughout the album but she elevates it. Really happy with my first listen and glad I grabbed this on vinyl.
Alright even though this is only 42 minutes I keep checking to see how many songs I have left. Seems like something this scaled back would've benefited from only being 32-37 minutes long, but she's never been great at leaving songs on the cutting floor for the sake of a well flowing album. EDIT: Anime Eyes was a miss, although unique, so I guess I can't knock it too much. Closer is great so far.
1. Golden Hour 2. Same Trailer Different Park 3. Star-Crossed 4. Pageant Material 5. A Very Kacey Christmas
Really loved the chances she took musically on Golden Hour and Star Crossed…this just sounds like a safe folk-record. I’d you’re into that genre you’ll prob enjoy it, unfortunately it’s not my thing. Don’t think I’m gonna pay $200 for an arena show if the setlist is 75% this record. Hopefully she’ll pop up on some festival dates next year.
That's my biggest complaint about all of these animations - they're so obviously AI generated so the motions are always awkward.
