I was at Target the other day and was looking at their K-Pop stuff because I love seeing all the crazy creative packaging. And I noticed a box of spaghetti was on the shelf. So I jokingly was going to take a picture of it for my friends to say "Wow K-Pop packaging is really starting to get wild!" But when I looked closer, it was the actual packaging for a new EP for a song called "Spaghetti" and my mind was just blown haha.
yeah i just HAVE to see this. i loved Blue Valentine too much. i missed my chance to see ARTMS this year (and Twice is prohibitively expensive ) so this will probably be my first k-pop show! LOL yeah i saw this too, really cute
Hell yeah that'll be a great first! We saw Nmixx when they did the "fan showcase" thing (which is BASICALLY a tour just not nearly as high production value) and they were phenomenal, I can only imagine how they'll be with the higher production and now that they have such an incredible catalog
December is often dry for K-Pop releases but this AOTY just dropped, proof that you don't have to only release Winter themed stuff at that time of the year!
My kid did a K-Pop photoshoot today with a local photographer. Was fun watching her so into it. I wish she could experience life in Korea like I have for a few years.
yeah, this was a (not entirely) unexpected development i mean- from the moment ADOR responded to the three members saying they're returning too, like "okay, hol' on a minute" i figured things weren't gonna shake out how the members were thinking consequences comes at 'cha fast
This tour is literally the only thing I care about this year. I've only purchased a ticket to one show so far (TAI), because I will choose BTS over anything else and don't want to risk overlapping. Not getting tickets during presale wont stop me either, I made it work for Yoongi and Hobi's tours, it was just an extra hassle. Now if they could just be kind to me and have dates in Seattle please.
I have to help my ex get tickets cuz she helped me and my wife get Stray Kids tickets for the kids Might die in the process
Alright, so I'm a normie who heard the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack and absolutely loved what I was hearing. I wore that the heck out of that this fall, and now I'm attempting to wade through the waters to find more stuff that I like. My word, this is a hard genre to sift through. I'm very confused on the verbiage around singles, mini-albums, albums, etc, and just looking through streaming services is somewhat hard. Anyway. These are the songs I've found that I love: Aespa - Whiplash/Hold On Tight ATEEZ - In Your Fantasy/Lemon Drop MEOVV - Burning Up Red Velvet - Cosmic/Bad Boy BLACKPINK - How You Like That/DDU-DU DDU-DU/JUMP Jeon Somi - Closer Jennie - Like Jennie/Mantra Any songs suggestions if I like these and the KPDH soundtrack? I generally like a good pulsing beat, catchy choruses (duh) and top-notch production. Any playlists on Spotify to follow to keep up with new songs? Any social media to follow (IG, Reddit, etc) that is the best way to keep up with releases without all the general tabloid-like news?
There are others here that know a lot more than me, but singles are usually 1-2 songs, mini-albums are basically EPs, and albums have 8+ songs. KPOP on social media is a dangerous thing to get into, many of the accounts that claim to be news are heavily biased and even straight up fake. I'm extremely skeptical of everything I read. As far as what to check out, I think anything by Le Sserafim would be a great start based on what you already like. I am admittedly biased toward BIGHIT groups, and Saja Boys was partially inspired by TXT and BTS, so of course I have to throw them in. And Cortis is my favorite rookie group and they're about to be everywhere. Outside of BIGHIT, there have been a bunch of good recent releases posted by others in the last few pages.
There's so much music so it's hard to keep up with everything. I'd suggest using playlists that aggregate new releases on a weekly or monthly basis like those from this YouTube channel. It looks like this Spotify playlist gets updated every Monday with new and trendy releases as well. That way you may stumble upon a song you love, explore the group or artist's older discography and then expand from there. You can check the other groups from their labels, even if some aren't around anymore and so their music isn't necessarily in line with what's trendy in K-Pop's current landscape (which moves at such a fast pace!). From the songs in your list I'm the most familiar with, I think these recent releases from XG, ifeye and KiiiKiii would scratch the same clubby itch as "Whiplash": I feel like the BLACKPINK tracks are more in line with 2016-2020 K-Pop, girl groups wise at least, so I can't think of many that still do in your face stuff in that vein these days, except for ITZY at times, BABYMONSTER, or XG's more hip-hop infused tracks. That sound is more prevalent in boy groups. I'm not the best person to ask for recs for them as most of the ones I'm thinking of are gone or inactive, and those that appeal to me these days are closer to hyperpop overall (JUSTB, idntt).
I’ve never really listened to kpop before, but apparently there are pretty cheap tickets for Twice here on Wednesday. Is that a good entry to the genre? Will I feel weird going alone as a middle aged man?
My ex told me she had an anxiety attack even trying to get a presale code for BTS and no longer wants to go because she thinks the crowd will overwhelm her so I am free from navigating this bloodbath
Twice is a pretty good entry point, if you can get tickets for cheap you should absolutely go. You won't feel weird as long as you don't act weird which I am in no way insinuating you would but yeah fans in this exact situation will be very nice and welcoming!
Weverse was just bogged down for awhile following the tour dates and opening of presale registration but it's fine now. There are a LOT of shows so hopefully it won't be as much of a ticketing hell as some of us are expecting! BTS announce cities and dates for huge 2026-2027 world tour
I absolutely panic submitted my presale submission right when the form opened while I was still in bed and skipped over Stanford. I chose LA, LV, and Arlington even though I have no interest in going to Texas in the summer ughh. LA is still going to be my most likely choice, but Stanford is closer. Also hoping there will be more options in the next leg.
