hate everything about how this is playing out, ugh are we really about to see another new girl group with huge potential fall apart early?
Torn on NewJeans stuff because they are victims of Min Heejin as well and heavily manipulated but also are backing her to the end and it's causing damage to groups like Le Sserafim and ILLIT and it just sucks to see It probably should just end, it's heartbreaking to see young people manipulated like that
Seeing how things have played out for most K-Pop acts with label troubles, it's hard not to be cynical. Wishing them the best even if I don't have much hope.
yeah, MHJ the master manipulator you are... (i take back my earlier sentiments abt her and NJ after seeing some of the released/translated court info & things said abt the girls by MHJ) jesus, it just keeps getting worse i don't know WHO the fuck is advising these girls (if anyone) but good lord i can't imagine why they think things are gonna go well for them. like, do they really think they can just say they're terminating their contracts like the company isn't gonna use their MANY resources to litigate this until the members grandchildren are gonna be in debt? like we didn't just see 50/50 go through this.
We’ll see if they start up elsewhere. Won’t be under the name NewJeans, but maybe they’ll still work together
It'd be a best case scenario. Considering their success and how public they're being, my fear is they're going to be made a bigger example than any other acts before with all the consequences that can entail (blacklist ala TVXQ/JYJ etc.).
Yeah it's sad to witness. I keep thinking of the comment MHJ made about an idol, who was 23 iirc, that she deemed too old for her. Imagine NewJeans get stuck in limbo (which is somewhat already happening) due to a neverending legal battle. At some point they'll reach that age, MHJ will have probably put together one or two younger groups and it's likely she's going to drop them without remorse. They may be in for a rude awakening further down the line.
Yeojin changing her bio to LOONA gives me hope... the impossible has already happened for them so who knows?
MEGAN UNNIE!!!!! lmao AH i forgot to post about that here!! i love it so much, amazing that these two collab'd
I didn't end up going to the Kiss of Life tour, ended up selling my tickets because everything I heard was that the venues were way too small for the amount of people who ended up getting tickets, no one could see, phones blocking everyone's views, etc. I did go to the theater for the RM documentary though which was very good. Not quite as vulnerable as Suga's IMO but it was interesting to see the differences between their processes, RM's ended up being as much about the producer as him, and just "having a team" in general, while Suga's was very isolated, and about more individual relationships he made in his process. Big fan of them both I hate the new Twice song so much. Megan sounds phenomenal and the "hey boy I'ma getcha" sounds good but the hook is god awful IMO, I hate the "strat-uh-geeeeeee, strat-uh-geeeeeeeee". I think I'm just opposite the world on Twice because every time people say they're releasing something weak I love it and every time they release something I hate, people rave about it being their biggest hit since TT I'm not even gonna post the Young Posse news of recent because it's just too simultaneously funny/awful, please look it up Irene solo release was great, the single is a pretty good song but I feel like there's just a lot of consistency on the mini album as a whole that isn't present on other Red Velvet solo releases. Her voice is fantastic too, she's always deserved credit for it and not gotten it nearly enough because she's in a group with Wendy and Seulgi who are among the best in the genre No more k-pop shows for the year! Went to 5 this year total, it seems like acts skipped Dallas more often than normal this time around, likely because they hit Dallas hard after the COVID shutdowns. I hope more passes through soon. We have tickets to Stray Kids next year already, we'll see what else comes up 03/20 - IVE @ Dickies Arena (Fort Worth) 06/16 - Itzy @ The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory (Irving) 07/25 - IU @ Allstate Arena (Rosemont) 07/28 - ATEEZ @ Globe Life Field (Arlington) 11/15 - Dreamcatcher @ Dolby Theatre (Los Angeles) - favorite by far
RPWP is my album of the year, so I was happy to see the process behind it in the documentary. RM's creativity and endlessly fascinates me, I truly enjoy every project he's put out, but it was particularly refreshing to see him get to takes some chances and risks and just embrace that opportunity. I really hope that once those seven are back in the same room, they are able to find a healthy balance between their individual styles and preferences and being a group of seven, because I don't want to "lose" any of the seven artists that we've had during this Chapter 2! I'm done for the year as well! Happy to have caught so many kpop and kpop-adjacent shows this year, including Tomorrow x Together, Ateez, Seventeen, Epik High, Oneus, Woosung of The Rose and I.M of Monsta X. Already have tix for Stray Kids and Hwasa for 2025, and hopefully more to come! (cough Hobi cough)
lmaooooo, i'm not surprised that the company who put together/named this group "Young Posse" would try to name a song something stereotypically racist, but goddamn was it funny
