hey thanks, i've enjoyed K-Pop for a long time and I've followed this thread since creation, but never had anything to say.

This new Red Velvet song is pretty nice, I've liked both of the Station songs from them thus far.

 

Hey! Just started kinda getting into this scene, and I don't know if this kinda stuff is posted here, but an artist I follow on twitter did a cool fanart of Red Velvet which I thought I'd share. Also: bonus D.Va

 

Digging the new Sunmi song.

 

so the kbs show for failed idols is called "the unit" and will now be for two 10 member groups that will only promote for 7 months. a good amount of people have already announced to join

laboum (rumored to be all the members)
dal shabet (subin only so far)
brave girls (3 members)
bigstar (all but one of the members)
boys republic (all the members)
ahreum (ex-t-ara)

also there's a rumor that someone from aoa will be joining, it was believed to be chanmi but she said she didn't know anything about it.

 

I think 2017 releases have been pretty weak compared to last year.

 

new Bolbbalgan today, really great group and I think the mini-album is super fantastic but I'm also a super big fan of everything they've done so maybe I'm biased.

the 2 one minute videos are longer on the mini, not really sure why they put out such short videos but I enjoy them anyway

 

havent heard the new stuff yet but i did like that "galaxy" song though, i might check it out.

 

so snsd's tiffany, seohyun, and sooyoung have opted to not renew their contract with sm thus essentially marking the end of snsd. i might not ever have made this thread had it not been for them, a shame to see them go but i wish them the best in their new ventures.

 

That new Twice album was eh.

 

Caught me off guard, but I absolutely love this new Epik High record. Knew nothing about them, but listened all the way through and had so many moments where I couldn't wipe the grin off my face, it was just that good.

Past that, have enjoyed IU's Palette and Mix and Match by LOONA/Odd Eye Circle.

 

i thought the twice single was fun and i liked it more than signal but the rest of the album was pretty bad, it took me like 4 tries to actually get through it because it was so dull.

agree on the odd eye circle comment, loona has released some of the best stuff this year and honestly i wouldnt mind if they continue to delay the group's debut if we get more odd eye circle stuff in exchange.

also red velvet's new full album comes out next week and the teasers are sounding amazing, it's looking like sm is really going all out on giving them a really good record.

 

Red Velvet and TWICE were my faves as a person who knows very little about the genre and I was only kinda into "Likey" and a lot of my friends who love them seem less than hyped on the album so I haven't given it a spin yet. Really high hopes for Red Velvet's album.

 

well those are some of the most interesting girl groups the genre has to offer right now, solid picks. do you have any faves from either group?

 

Unfortunately my knowledge doesn't extend far enough to members at this point! I just kind of listen to what my friends recommend and then further explore tracks from the ones I find myself coming back to.

 

new rv album on friday and so far the teasers sound incredible, could be one of the best kpop albums of the year. so hype

 

Other than Rookie, RV has had some pretty good title songs.

 

Other than the new Twice repackage/single is there anything left coming out this year that I should keep an eye on?

 

taeyeon has a new one coming next week, but it's probably some winter ballad stuff. there's a new loona single sometime this month, and soyou from sistar is putting out an album. exo is also releasing something but it's christmas themed. other than that not really much else until next year.

 

so this is probably like my least favorite twice single. signal wasnt great but this one is so unremarkable, any somewhat cutesy group could have put this out, sounds like a throwaway b-side.

Not really a Kpop fan, but my step daughter is and she’s gutted about this. Feel so bad for her and gutted for his family. Can’t imagine what they’re going through.

 

finally got around to start listening to k-pop so i enjoyed (thankful they're all on spotify):
girls' generation, i.o.i, exo, exo-k, BTS, and blackpink (prob my faves lol).
i enjoyed "abracadabra" by brown eyed girls' so i'm going to listen to their album now.

 

Blackpink are super good, i wish they would release music more often but I should know better by now (thanks YG)

 

Supposedly they're releasing something next month, but it's YG as you said. So who knows.
