jisoo was saying yesterday that this was gonna be a pink concept and she was not kidding. i like this and ill probably like it more the more i listen to it, but i cant help but be a bit disappointed since it's very different from what i expected it to be given the teaser (which i played endlessly)
new apink and boa are out today, not really a fan of the boa one, havent heard apink. heize's mini album is definitely worth a listen
loving the new apink, my favorite of their in a long time. who would have thought that out of all the groups from that era apink would be one of the few to hold it together so well.
I'm still iffy on them, they have some good songs but their formula is tired at this point. It seems like they release the same single every year.
TOP's verdict on that weed thing is 2 year probation and if he breaks it, he'll get 10 months of prison.
so this hyori album is flopping hard in korea, just came out a few days ago and currently her highest charting song is at #37 on real-time charts. also kbs announced a survival show with 500 contestants (250 boys 250 girls) to create two 9 member groups. the concept of the show is that all the contestants are "failed idols", the requirement for joining is that they have to have released a song at some point. essentially an entire show based on nu'est's participation in produce 101. so far the only announced contestants are 4 members of bigstar. mnets new idol survival idol school starts next week where 41 girls compete to join a 5-13 member girl group, the show has a school theme. the show's getting some buzz because of 3 girls who were in the running to be in twice, 1 girl who was part of smrookies, 1 former yg trainee, and lee haein (top 22 on produce 101), show has the potential to make a pretty popular gg (this time its a permanent group)
I quickly read about that "failed idols" show awhile ago, didn't know it was 500 contestants. Is there even enough for that. Also saw a clip of the school theme show where the girls were on a rooftop performing(?), I forgot what they were doing. Didn't those girls also leave JYP or am I thinking of someone else.
they'll probably stretch the definition of "failed idols", either way you'd be surprised at how many debuts there are every year that no one ever hears about yeah they released an mv for the show's theme song (it's kind of bad tbh) and at one point they are in the school's rooftop. the 3 girls all left jyp, part of the requirement for joining the show is to not have a contract with any company so everyone is currently unsigned
yeah much better than rookie, havent heard the mini yet but i honestly love their last mini aside from rookie
sm has been really consistent this year about releasing albums with singles im not huge on but filled with other great tracks. koko bop is fine but im not feeling it as much as some of the other songs on the album, it's not as cosnsistent as exo's last album but there's some really strong ones (touch it, walk on memories)
first week of august is stacked with new releases, mostly from newer groups but a lot of them with at least some decent potential gfriend on the 1st, samuel (101) and onf (same company as oh my girl) on the 2nd, clc, winner, and nine muses on the 3rd, dia on the 6th, wannaone debut on the 7th, and weki meki (two girls from ioi) debut on the 8th.
Cooool! Tho not much into KPop. I love the theme very much. I guess I miss my production team back then when I used to be part of a local movie firm. I miss the costume change sessions and the sleepless nights n the shoot.
new gfriend single is kind of boring, seems like a heavy retread of their previous hits. their previous single wasnt their best but at least they were trying something slightly different. the rest of the album is a bit better but it's mostly songs that sounds exactly like slightly worse versions of what was on their previous mini which was surprisingly strong. these guys from 101 released a mini and it's actually quite strong, i don't even remember them much from 101 but the album is full of nice sparse production that you can tell was made on a small budget but is still solid and straightforward.
loads of new stuff came out this past week snsd like last time picked the worse of the two singles to make their main title track, it's still good but i don't like it as much as all night. the album is pretty good though i think it loses a lot of steam in the second half winner's new one is fun, they're pretty much following on the formula of really really but that's a great track and theyre good at that sound so why not stick with it wanna one's single is fine, might grow on me more the more i listen. the rest of the mini is unbelievably bad though im enjoying the weki meki debut, there's a couple of parts i think are a little annoying but that might go away the more i get used to the track. either way its a solid debut that i think stands out pretty well there's still a whole lot of stuff coming this month too. jessica tomorrow, tayeang on the 16th, pristin, dia, and gugudan oguogu for 101 stuff, nct dream at some point before the end of the month, and sunmi from wonder girls making her first solo comeback in a while
that WINNER track is so good, probably one of my favourite tracks in a while in K-Pop. I remember being really worried when that one guy (Taehyun?) left the group, because I thought they'd end up being a bit rubbish but I've really liked both Really Really and Love Me Love Me so I'm pretty happy.
welcome to the thread, always cool to see new faces pop up here. i totally agree, taehyun had mostly taken the initiative as a songwriter so when he left i thought that was it for them, but they've really found a sound that suits them.
