Guardians 2 takes all of the worst parts of the 1st and turns it up to 11. Exhausting hearing a quip every 5 seconds.
I feel like I'll randomly pop into a thread and see @phaynes12 show his whole ass on a bad opinion after seeing a bunch of good opinions in other threads.
To be fair he does also think the countdown happening in the Man Orch thread is cringe which is true.
I mean Guardians 2 is still a lower tier Marvel film for me, but I can change my opinion if that is necessary?
Guardians 2 does nothing for Marvel’s larger Thanos “story”/plot, instead focusing on fleshing out the characters & themes of the series. Which, explains a lot about why it’s both the best & regularly underestimated by a lot of Marvel fans. (Yes, it’s also filled with big digital spectacle & lots of jokes... but, if those aren’t your thing, how are you watching Marvel Studios films? lol.)
I agree that Guardians 2 is not as good as the higher end MCU films but I’d still watch it over BvS and 2017 JL
I was not a fan of Guardians 2 when I first saw it, but definitely enjoyed it a lot more on a recent rewatch.
bingo. pratt is insuffffffferable in it. and while the CGI is mostly good, everything with the planet shit is fucking horrendous.
"said everyone who read my post" lol y'all are going to bat for a movie that, through multiple platforms, has some of the lowest reviews, ranking positions in the universe, and fan and critical scores on aggregate sites of the entire MCU. it's fine that some of you like the movie. acting like I chose to say this about, idk, black panther or something on that level is absurd.
It’s metacritic user and critic scores are in the middle of the pack for the MCU. anyway it’s mostly entertaining and one of the few Marvel movies that attempts to be about something interesting so I’d have it safely in the top half, though it’s a low bar to clear
I mean the cast is what makes the Guardians films (Pratt, Cooper, Batista, Gillian, Saldana, Rooker, Russel). They’re all likable. I just thought the 2nd felt a lot like a bottle episode.
Criticizing a film because it feels like "bottle episode" represents a lot of what I've grown to hate about the Marvel Studios method & fandom, lol.
I mean, I just don't enjoy it as much as the others. I think the pacing is the biggest issue for me. There's plenty of scenes I really enjoy, and like was mentioned, the cast is really fun to watch, but it just... still falls flat for me. Iron Man 3 is the one that I've enjoyed more and more with further rewatches.
on one hand they should work with more people like shane black but on the other his original movies are so much more interesting
