Fair enough I guess. I'm so happy he's still attached and hope he stays on the rest of the films as a producer and hopefully oversees the action scenes.
I love Snyder's style and what he's done with the first 2 movies but am also anxious to see what other directors do with the DCEU.
They need to get rid of him so bad. All he cares about are visuals. They need people who understand both are important. While he doesn't write the scripts he has influence and say on how it plays out and he just doesn't get that aspect at all.
Well that's not true. Man of Steel had so much good story and gave depth to a character we hadn't seen in the movies before. He's fantastic and his vision is amazing. Sorry.
I would have liked to actually see Ayer's version. The mish mash we got was fun to an extent, but ultimately a very flawed film.
He also directs the actors, and he does an absolutely horrid job of it. And that has been true his entire career (I admit I haven't seen Sucker Punch, but I believe I have seen just about all his other films). He works with some fantastically talented people, and makes them look like amateurs.
The cast has never been DC's problem. They usually have solid casting, but they put them in garbage movies. It's sad.
He is a flatline. Not that it was Cavil's fault though. He has proven he is a good actor in other productions.
I dunno about that, I love all his movies minus BvS and Sucker Punch. Even the owl movie was great. Everyone who works with him loves him, and I've never seen any problems with the actors performance in anything. When you want to hate Sonder though, anything is possible.
I still want to see Ava DuVernay, more than anyone else, tackle a Superman film. She could do something really great with the character.
My dream has always been Brad Bird. Between The Incredibles and Iron Giant, he has demonstrated he understands the heart of aspirational characters like Superman. And M:I:Ghost Protocol showed he can handle live action spectacle.
I've only seen one movie from her, granted it was good but isn't it too soon to say for sure. Also didn't she have a fallout with Marvel because of the guidelines that were given? I don't think she's cut to do CB movies probably, needs more freedom.
Snyder is the man in charge of bringing my all-time favorite characters to life. If you think I WANT to hate him you are nuts. It is the exact opposite. It isn't as if DC is going to make concurrent Superman movies. This is my chance at seeing Superman on the big screen. In the Justice League. I don't know when I will ever get that chance again. Nobody had more optimism for Man of Steel than I did. What I got was a film that in no way resembled the character I love. If you want to like his movies, you go right ahead. I am not going to tell you not to do that. I expressed my opinion on the quality of his films. You are free to do so as well. But I would appreciate it if you wouldn't cast aspersions by attempting to belittle my viewpoint. We disagree. It isn't some affront on you.
I would be alright with that. Marvel has a more specific vision for their shared universe. Directors have more impact than people give Marvel credit for, but it all has to fit within certain parameters. DC claims to be more director-driven and more willing to take risks, and they don't have their own brand nailed in the same way. If DC gave DuVernay this Superman cast and said she could do anything she wanted with the franchise, maybe she'd be willing to sign on and tell an exciting, unique story like the character deserves. She has shown interest in superheroes in the past, as long as she could do it her own way, and she's making a Wrinkle in Time film, so I don't think it's a stretch.
No one is saying Snyder is a bad human. He is just not a great director. He shouldn't be making these type of movies, or maybe he should just be in charge of the visuals while a competent director heads everything up. He has some talent, but it just does not work as the director.
I've never seen Cavil give even an average performance. I thought his acting stuck out in BvS. Other than him and Lex LuthOr (as Batfleck pronounces it), I thought the acting was alright. Though I will agree, Amy Adams is much better actress than what she exhibits in this.
That would be awesome actually. DC seems to tell directors they can have more freedom but the extended cuts of BvS and SS show that isn't really true. I think she'd probably pass on that. From seeing the rest of Synders films, these are exactly the kind of movies he should be doing. Huge action spectacles, not dramas or anything like that.
You belittled it yourself when you said the movie had absolutely zero depth. Sorry, I'm a huge fan boy as well. There's shit wrong with the films, just try to enjoy what they are doing right. MOS gave us the best live action Superman we've ever had. Sure, it's not the comics but it's hell of a lot better than getting another Returns.
