He’s such a child. Honestly him and the toxic fans deserve each other.

Supposedly the reshoots were only a handful of minutes total, consisting of two scenes. One is apparently a Jared Leto Joker thing, & the other is apparently Harry Lennix as Martian Manhunter (which Snyder was gonna shoot during post production, before he was replaced by Whedon).

As for "new cut vs new movie"... According to Snyder, he spent principle photography shooting both a Whedon rewrite version (Whedon was brought on by the studio for rewrites before Snyder's personal tragedy finally pulled him away completely) & his original version of the film. I don't know enough about how all that blockbuster shot coverage stuff works to know how abnormal that is, but that'd explain some of what was seen & discussed before the new version was confirmed. So, allegedly, what we're getting is a film constructed from all the non-Whedon-fied footage he shot, which costs as much as it does due to post production costs more so than reshoots. I'm sure the special effects in particular cost a lot; depending on where the score was at before Whedon brought Elfman in, maybe that, too?

Assuming Snyder really did that little additional photography, & really isn't using any Whedon material, it's gonna be interesting to see how the pacing feels. It's supposedly around four hours(!) of unadulterated Snyder material, not refined into a standard Hollywood theatrical film (obviously his original version still would've been trimmed down to, at most, 3 hrs & some change). And, he himself never did the basic coverage reshoots most movies this size do; New Mutants didn't, either, & you feel it at time.

No interest in seeing a movie from a dude so deluded that he unironically compared himself to Alan Moore when defending Batman killing people lol

Spoilers about his role in the new cut of JL from the article

Joker appears in the new film during a sequence set on a ruined Earth after the alien tyrant Darkseid invades and decimates the planet. It’s a dream sequence, a psychic vision, experienced by Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne that reveals what will happen if the superheroes fail to stop the onslaught. Joker is sort of the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, supplying motivation through terror.

“The cool thing about the scene is that it's Joker talking directly to Batman about Batman,” Snyder said. “It's Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe. That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together. It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together.”

“I'd always wanted to explore the death of Robin,” Snyder said. "And if there ever was going to be a next movie, which, of course, there probably won't be, I wanted to do a thing where in flashbacks we learn how Robin died, how Joker killed him and burned down Wayne Manor, and that whole thing that happened between he and Bruce.”

In spite of all the talk, both unofficial & semi-official, about various ways to continue Snyder's version of DC (without making it the main thing) if this is a success... This feels like a confirmation that Zack himself wants this release to have a sort of closure for him & his time with these characters. I'm sure if he were offered a spinoff in the form of a comic book or HBO Max film or whatever, he'd do it, but he'd also probably be happy if this is his last indulgent hurrah.

...of course it'd be awesome if Snyder, & Sony, & Disney, & the Golden Globes, & people online, etc., knew more about how terrible a person Leto is! Can some major publication/reporter/whoever please get the ball rolling publicly?

Snyder confirming he's done making these horrible, horrible movies is the best news that's ever been posted in this thread.

I can’t believe this is real. I saw it before I saw the trailer and assumed it was a joke.
