I don’t think it’s healthy or useful to make this kinda direct comparison (even with qualifiers) between a filmmaker & QAnon. The way certain toxic fandoms (Gamer Gate, Comics Gate, some Snyder fans, some Star Wars fans, etc.) behave the same way & even sometimes overlap with right wing creeps is important & worth addressing. But, putting that on Zack Snyder, whose biggest crimes are making loud, messy films & having some problematic views in his work that aren’t far outside of the rest of America & Hollywood, is too much imo.
(Also, @DrAlanGrant, you don’t have to get upset every single time someone posts negative thoughts in a thread for a superhero or whatever thing, lol. Chill.)
I'm not comparing the filmmaker, I'm comparing the fans who were loud and aggressive about the Snyder Cut long before Snyder ever acknowledged it. Those fans created the myth of a Snyder Cut based on virtually nothing but Snyder's early exit, and twisted themselves into venom spitting at anyone who questioned their claims or took issue with their behavior. I still think catering to people like that deserves pause and reflection. But fair enough, it was an impulsive thought and the comparison itself wasn't necessary.
This I definitely agree with. (Though, if there were ever a campaign for a new official cut to Amazing Spider-Man 2, I would of course become toxic as fuck on Twitter to get it.) I also think whether or not a “Snyder Cut” existed was always a weird semantic thing made messier by a lot of the vocal supporters not actually understanding how this kinda thing works. But, that’s kind of another topic, lol.
ASM2 is still the closest we’ve gotten to a live action Spider-Man I love so I’d be right there with you
Zack Snyder has absolutely indulged/encouraged the worst parts of his fandom with regard to this whole nonsensical, nonexistent-until-last-year “Snyder Cut”, so yeah some of the blame for how those people have behaved is on him.
Is Jared Leto shooting new scenes as the Joker for this? I wonder how much of this is a new cut vs a new movie.
Looks like he might be based on Snyder's social media. Also yeah this isn't actually "the Snyder Cut", as people have asked for it. It's not like the Blade Runner Final Cut, for example, which literally was Ridley Scott overseeing a definitive edit of the movie. This is a hybrid of old footage and new footage, it's not just that they went back and re-edited the movie and finished some of the incomplete VFX.
Anytime I get even a tiny bit curious about what this might look like I remember the last seven Zack Snyder movies I watched front to back and kick myself for not learning anything sooner
