Apparently Cavill signed up for more movies as Superman.

Oh wow. I'm completely on board as long as they get the right directors and writers involved. Cavill is great, all the other movies he was in were a true disservice to him

Weird that the article says there’s not a Man of Steel 2 in development. That’s probably technically true, given the full slate they got & the lack of Cavill contract. But, as soon as there’s a settled contract, gotta believe that’ll be coming, even if it’s not called “Man of Steel.”

Unless they’re just gonna throw him in Shazam 2?

Would Snyder be involved in MoS 2?

  6. I wouldn't think so, but that's just a guess.

Probably not, which is all the more reason it probably wouldn’t be called “Man of Steel 2,” but instead something in the “Superman: [title]” format.

(Also, gosh, please let us get a non Snyder Superman on film!)

It’s interesting that the DCEU will kinda just continue, without Batman? Before hand it seemed like the DCEU was kinda dead as a concept and the established characters would kind of just be solo from here on out, but I feel like this changes things. Pattinson just exists in his own universe and the DCEU otherwise just goes on and never references Batfleck again.

I feel like DC doesn't care nearly as much about continuity in their film universe as Marvel does tbh. They genuinely might just say fuck it and throw Pattinson in with all of them lol. Not sure how they'd handle that one if they did, though

If they’re gonna just keep using this world as their default continuity, while having that separate Batman at the same time... they should just bring Affleck back for one more film, kill him, & give this continuity a Dick Grayson Batman.

Not that I personally care about continuity, as I’ve well established, lol. But if they do, then that’d be a good choice. (Better than those dumb Flashpoint suggestions in recent years, imo, lol.)

Tbh if they're just going to ditch Bruce all together, bring me Terry McGinnis as Batman Beyond

I feel like if they were to entertain killing off Batfleck, there’s no shot they would replace him and run any other cinematic Batman parallel to Pattinson.

I’ll accept any comic book movie if it’s good, but

I’d prefer Batman Beyond as his own thing, in a world that captures the feeling of that show. A Terry McGinnis in the current cinematic DC universe wouldn’t really be the same thing? It’d be like if they made a Spider-Man 2099 origin film set in the present day MCU.

Why not? Sony has two Spider-Men, & DC’s technically already in the midst of having 3 different cinematic versions of Gotham City simultaneously.

Totally fair point about the setting of Batman Beyond. I agree with you now that you mention it, but fuck, I just want a BB movie so bad lol

Well I mean for Spider-man, one is animated. There’s not two live action Peter Parker’s running around.

And hasn’t DC always been suuuuper protective of live action Batman? In recent years they seem to have loosened up on his villains and supporting characters, but Batman himself I always just assume they’re hesitant to have multiple versions running around.

  17. Great news. It just sucks that they wasted the death storyline.

Joker had a Bruce Wayne, & there were allegedly talks of Todd Philips doing another DC film (though, who knows, maybe Bruce wouldn't return for whatever that is). And, we've got the Justice League Snyder Cut coming out (on streaming) in the same year as the first Pattinson film, plus films like Birds of Prey, Shazam!, & The Suicide Squad continuing the Affleck continuity. So, kinda feels like that's already a thing? Guess it depends on what one defines as "multiple versions," like if a character in costume calling himself "Batman" can only be happening in newly written & directed films one version at a time.

Also, DC is super protective, except when they're not, lol. Remember when they cared enough about not repeating characters to say that CW couldn't share Amanda Waller... but could share Barry Allen? And, now there's a Superman series on the way at CW at the same time as negociations for more Cavill appearances.

To be clear, though, since I probably wasn't originally, I'm not suggesting that we get a DCEU adaptation of Grant Morrison's Batman & Robin as its own series alongside the Pattinson series. More so, I'm saying that, if they're fully committed to this Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn, plus now back in talks w/ Cavill, etc., then clearly they do still want this sandbox to exist for their more Marvel-y ideas (shared universe wise, not necessarily tonally). And, doing so while having to conspicuously avoid Batman the way Supergirl season 1 avoided Superman sounds... awkward. Like I said, I personally don't care about continuity, but they clearly do, so establishing Dick Grayson in the role for future Justice League, Suicide Squad, Batgirl, etc., films just makes sense, as a way to remove that obstacle. No convincing Affleck to keep donning the cowl; no having to establish two newly cast Bruce Waynes simultaneously; no Bat-elephants in the room.

Plus, depending on what you believe w/ all that DC Comics "5G" stuff (which the one-two punch of Dan Didio being let go & the pandemic disrupting the direct market has hopefully killed), WB was already looking at developing new versions of characters that could replace actors w/out recasting roles, like Marvel's doing here & there.

All the more reason to just bring back Dick Grayson Batman, who even briefly existed alongside Bruce Wayne Batman in the same continuity, before New 52.

I wouldn’t mind having Dick as Batman. The only downside to that is losing out on Nightwing, who should be a good enough character in his own right to exist.

But I did love Dick and Damian as a team.

Fair. I'm also more of a Marvel person than a DC one, lol, so I don't have a strong attachment to the "Nightwing" mantle on him, like compared to "Batman" or "Robin." I know a lot of people love Nightwing, & specifically love that Dick chooses to be his own hero apart from Bruce.

To me, having Dick take on the role long term felt like it could've been a modern version of what people loved about Wally as Flash (something I just read some of for the first time a few months ago). But, I get the Nightwing preference.

  24. So, is that Darkseid clip new? Meaning was it recently shot or is it refined footage from Snyder's original cut?

It would have been footage shot in 2016 during the original production time
