Cavill took inspo from Reeve to the detriment of his performance imo. I think Cavill is the absolute perfect choice for a Reeve-esque Superman.

I hate that the online gossip is still that WB & Cavill are at a stand still over pay. The best thing Snyder's JL could do, which it totally won't do I'm sure, is finally motivate them to get on the same page (ideally in Cavill's favor, obviously) so we can get a good Superman film w/ him.

Fuck it, Darkseid shows up at the end of Justice League 1.5 fucks up the whole thing and Barry does what he’s good at and fucks up the time line to beat him but erase MoS, BvS from the timeline leading into RPat Batman and Cavill All Star Superman.

I go back & forth on if I'd want something so perfect in comic form adapted straight to the screen, anymore these days leaning towards no. But at the very least, something called "All-Star Superman," that takes the central idea & best concepts & moments from that & translates 'em into the best cinematic equivalent, would rule.

Like, the best lesson Hollywood could learn from Logan is that you can take out of continuity ideas & make 'em into films using established actors & ideas w/out caring what is & isn't canon from before, or what can & can't happen afterwards.

I agree completely. When I say All Star, I really mean something with that heart and hope in it.

I will say I don't agree with a lot of your points in threads throughout chorus.fm in relation to superhero movies, BUT I really love your last point here.

As much as I love the MCU, and have generally (though through some disappointment) enjoyed the DCEU, I wish we would get more one-off stories. Focus on the character development of the heroes and move on, and don't worry about how it connects with everything/everyone else.

Lol god damnit, I probably walked into that one. But honestly, I think most of my disagreements come from not viewing these movies in the same lense as you, which is great. I enjoy getting different perspective from time to time.

just sayin, with aquaman shazam and birds of prey, dc seems to have since gotten its shit together with some good films. even joker (which i thought sucked but w/e) was immensely profitable

Yeah DC has gotten better since they ditched the heavy focus of a shared universe.

It is funny that, between Snyder's Justice League, Joker, & The Batman, there are technically three different live action theatrical* takes on the Batman mythos that exist simultaneously w/out relating at all to each other. Sony, last bastion of non-MCU Marvel, please take note!

Also funny that, out of the three, the only one I'm eager to never engage for the rest of my life is Joker, the "serious, mature, award-winning" one. Like, I'd watch one more Snyder project after Justice League, as long as it can stand on its own Logan-style, before I'd watch another Todd Philips DC project or revisit that one.

    * Technically, Snyder's Justice League isn't theatrical, but like, it still counts as far as I'm concerned, lol.

Is the Pattinson Batman not related to BVS and JL? I always thought it was going to be a prequel of the same Batman in those films.

I mean, in the post-Affleck world, I don't think the canon or whatever has really been addressed, outside of vague talk of "it doesn't directly tie into other films" (which could still be true for films set in the same world). But, isn't it a little awkward if Jeffrey Wright turns into JK Simmons? lol.

Because of how established superhero IP works, you could totally make a film someday w/ a brand new cast that treats elements of Affleck, Pattinson, & Joker all as one canon. Kinda like how various Batman comics pick & choose which ones it'll treat as "canon." But, we can probably assume pretty safely that Matt Reeves' approach hasn't been to write a direct prequel to BvS.
