It’s honestly amazing to me that they put out that teaser then released a film that had the complete opposite message by the end of it.
Exactly! I also liked that it advertised Christopher Nolan as the producer (since it first ran with TDKR), a guy who would distance himself from it because it betrayed who Superman was.
He pitched Goyer’s initial vision of the story. Which I assume was different from “Superman is sad Jesus, but doesn’t care about collateral damage and has absolutely no personality” It fucking sucks too because Cavill could be a fantastic Superman but the way he’s been written for three films straight have completely poisoned the well. This is Superman. It's closer to the Superman that the teaser told us about. Not whatever thing that was Goyer wrote.
Goyer is just the worst. I know I said Snyder is bad enough at enough things that just giving him a better screenplay wouldn't fix his shortcomings, but... What if, instead of Goyer, or the guy who went on to cowrite Rise of Skywalker, Snyder directed a screenplay by a talented writer (specifically one whose sensibilities aren't too overtly at odds w/ Snyder's aesthetic sensibilities)? Based on an IP that's not as bad a fit as Superman or Watchmen? With a good editor that could help keep the story from falling apart?
I’ll never understand how Goyer continues to get work. What kind of ransom does he have on all these directors?
I’m interested in Snyder’s Army of the Dead that releases this fall on Netflix. It’s the first film he directed and was the cinematographer so it should at least look nice.
Dawn of the Dead is fine but I find the narrative that it's "so much better" than the original tiring
Army of the Dead seems like it's much more in his wheelhouse. It'll be interesting to see what it looks with him doing the cinematography. I really liked Larry Fong's work on his movies and Kong: Skull Island. Justice League was riddled with reshoots and green screens, so I'm not sure how much Fong's touch would've helped.
That’s going to meme it’s way into doing huge numbers for them and they’re going to fucking bring Snyder back on aren’t they?
Lol it’s gonna be hilarious when all the nerds see that the “Snyder Cut” is nothing more than final cut footage with animatics and rough-cut footage without final VFX spliced in and rearranged. After it comes out, they’ll all complain that WB “intentionally half-assed the Snyder Cut” to make Snyder look bad or whatever.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just another 20/30 minutes of banal shite like the BvS Directors Cut. They would have to. Snyder didn’t finish the film.
