Must've meant superhero movies. No biggie or anything

  2. ‘Blade Runner’ tanked and was incredible ...

I agree that is the outlier (though there are other factors to that films poor performance) but look at the openings of the latest Transformer and Pirates of the Caribbean films which were either the lowest or second lowest in both respective series'.

There are only really three comparisons you can make with the performance of this film. The first of which is how two DC films performed last year, then there is the obvious comparison to The Avengers and then how well Wonder Woman performed. This has performed worse than all three comparisons while also having a higher budget than all of those films. Then the fact that yes both DC films released in 2016 cracked the US top ten but both were thoroughly smashed compared to what Wonder Woman made in the US which just reinforces my feeling that audiences have grown tired of poorly made DC films.

  6. Audiences have given it a relatively good rating though. I assume this has legs for the rest of the month. It was poorly marketed but word of mouth is that it’s not bad and probably worth seeing in theatres. I had no desire to go first weekend cause I have other stuff to do, but I’ll see it in time.

Lots of hyperbole for a thing that’s hard to predict. Great movies bomb, shitty movies sometimes soar. I like when it matches my personal taste but it doesn’t always.

Speaking of box office bombs I liked, ‘Logan Lucky’ is out and more people should see it.

The production for this film specifically was heavily reported on and dissected. I think that was in people's minds. Also, the will he, won't he, attitude of Ben Affleck, and all the articles saying reviews were mixed to poor, when they were actually mixed to positive, all probably had a factor in the weekend attendance.

  8. Also it missed projections by $7m? That’s not as bad as it’s being taken imo. More confirmation bias imo.

    Oh.... that’s not awful.

I don’t know how to feel about all of this. I hated/hate watched these movies until WW. Which I found to be a great film. While this was a mess in a lot of ways, I did enjoy it. I do want to see where they go with this as a jump off point. I hope they continue from here.

Yeah it looks like 96m, I saw expectations at 100-113 last week. Good international numbers.

The marketing for this was pretty bad, a lot of my friends forgot this was even coming out.

I saw JL this morning and found it fairly enjoyable! Theater as pretty full for a 10:30 showing. Cyborg was better than I expected (was worried with all that CG). Couldn't help myself from staring at Henry Caville's upper lip all the time though ha only looked jarring maybe one time luckily.
Don't have much of background with the comics, but even so that second post-credit sequence was interesting to me. Very curious and honestly pretty excited to see where they go from here.

I doubt this will have the same legs that Wonder Woman had, probably drop similar to Suicide Squad and BvS around the 67-69% mark.

Wasn't a joke haha, BvS dropped by 69.1% in its second weekend and if this does the same it is unlikely to crack $200m.

Just wasn't joking is all, only throwing my predictions out there as second weekend drops are indicative of how a film will last while released.

I think next week being Thanksgiving, and a lot of people have time off, it won’t have that massive drop. The holiday should work in its favor.

    I have seen Justice League.

And, much to my surprise, I enjoyed it! The flaws are there. But it felt like a Justice League movie, at its core, which is something I’ve always wanted to see.

The biggest praise I can give is that this felt like a middle-of-the-pack episode of JLU. And that is far better than I really hoped.

In fact, I actually might see it again.

The third act in this is fun but everything aside from Ezra's flash was mediocre until then.

If you would have told me a few years ago that a standalone Thor film would not only be competition at all but actually destroy the first live action Justice League movie at the box office I wouldn't believe you in a million years
