To clarify, I meant the DCEU movies.

So, 2 good Batman movies and a good Wonder Woman movie count as "a lot a lot"

    More like:

3 good Superman movies (though most would argue it is only 2, but I will die on the Superman Returns hill), 5 good Batman movies, and a good Wonder Woman movie.

You should check it out. I'm all about Batman hunting Jack the Ripper.

  8. And maybe 10-ish animated movies.

Yes, I think around 20 movies is a lot.

I wasn't really considering animated movies. In that case yeah DC has a ton of good movies.

If your list of good Batman movies doesn't include Batman 66, you're objectively wrong. lol.

Batman 66, Mask of the Phantasm, The Dark Knight, and Wonder Woman are my 4 favorite DC films in an order I can never settle on. Not sure what #5 is, if I had to make a top 5. Maybe the original Superman?

By the way, while I don't love Superman Returns, I do like a lot about it and love how much you love it. I know I've told this to you before, but I love that it's for you essentially what the Garfield Spidey films are for me.

I never know if to include the DC Animation stuff, since they're not really made with theatrical releases in mind. Though, I think Mask of the Phantasm was meant to be straight-to-video and was a last-minute decision to be released theatrically, so counting it and not the others probably isn't fair.

Anyways, if I count those, New Frontier easily rounds out my top 5 DC films. RIP Darwyn Cooke.

Can't believe I still a little under two hours until I see this. I have a bit of a cold, and will be seeing it over the weekend, but I can see it and manage 6-7 hours of sleep with working from home tomorrow, nothing on the agenda tomorrow night so hella early bed time.

I remember watching the Batman animated series, and Superman, just wanting for something like to happen. I really can't wait for those first few seconds of the film with a big ol soda and popcorn in my hand.

Mask of the Phantasm is one of the best, arguably the best, Batman film and that is not up for debate.

  17. Somehow I have yet to watch this one.

But I loooove Under the Red Hood. Probably my favorite batman film.

Under the Red Hood will likely take a backseat to Phantasm once you've seen it.

Hoping to see this tomorrow night after TNF. I have low expectations, just hoping for another great Batman fighting scene like BvS had.

It's late and I'm super tired and will write more in the morning but this was hella fun. It's quick narratively and steppenwolf is on par with Ares, but his first scene is wicked intense and awesome (Amazons are so badass).

    Dug this more than Avengers.

Yes lol. That tweet is one of the most pig ignorant things I've seen said by a member of the press about film in a long time. There's a reason directors are calling him out for his bullshit.

This whole video is really fucking odd to me. I just watched the Justice League part and the guy talks about how much he disliked the movie and says everyone should see it. lol. RT score is a 43% as of yesterday.

Meta score hasn't changed much with about ten more reviews.

Yeah I thought it was odd when watching that. Regardless, very excited to see this tonight.

So yeah, some points on the film

The team - Fantastic. Everyone did a really good job and worked well together. Seeing them on screen was just so awesome. Though the dynamics and characterization was really great with the time that they had. Movie would have used an extra 20-30 minutes, IMO. Bring on the ultimate edition.

Story - Felt like a live action episode of the Justice League animated show, and I loved that. I like how it moves fairly quickly, though some plot points move too quickly because of it like the way in which they come up to bring Superman back. The idea happens in like less a minute

Steppenwolf - No worse than Ares, in fact, Steppnenwolf has a much cooler scene than Ares had. Specifically, with the Amazons and it's totally awesome/intense. But yeah, he's just kind of there. Didn't hurt or help anything for me in terms of the team and their story, which is what the film focuses on.

Two Directors - you can def sometimes make out which shot is a reshoot or not, one scene that was kind of laughable was when Bruce is talking to Arthur for the first time and Arthur heads to the water. Bruce is talking and no one is behind him then all of a sudden there's like 20 people standing behind him.

Superman - Upper lip looks weird at times if you are looking for it, try not to look for it. I'm really happy he was brought back when he was in the film, it wasn't the last 5 minutes which was great. The idea to bring him back just kind of happens, which was a little weird. Almost like they could have done it all along. Though the way they do it brings some tension between Diana and Bruce and it is totally awesome, as is when he awakes. His fight against Steppenwolf is one of the best Superman things, ever, IMO.
Soundtrack - Seemed hit or miss, it was really cool hearing the 1989 theme Batman and 70s theme for Superman. Sometimes the scores felt off and in the wrong place.

I really enjoyed this. Probably the most fun at a theater that I can remember recently. Seeing it again tomorrow and can't wait. This film's problems are exactly like similar problems of Marvel films, I honestly don't see too much of a difference. I wish it was getting better received publicly, but oh well, I had a hell of a time watching this. Really made me feel like a wide-eyed kid again, and I think I really needed that.

Feels almost ironic that i'm a point in my life professionally where I can see it at midnight, work the next day, and take the following day off to see it again.
