From the trailer Ezra's Flash looks great. I can't wait for this. Probably going to catch it at a Thursday screening and take the day off Friday and catch it again midday.
I think the way he describes his use of the old themes sounds really cool. I'm excited to hear what he does with this score.
He's getting the score and making it "darker". Why? I have no idea. I read the statement, but it doesn't make sense as to why they need to make it darker.
Oh I know exactly how Superman has been portrayed in these films. I’m just disappointed that they are still trying to keep some elements of the character dark.
The lighting on Batman's costume looks nice. Cyborg continues to break my heart with how consistently awful he looks. I know it'd be expensive and it's too late now, but man, fixing a mostly CGI character so that he simply looks less like crumpled tin foil shouldn't be that hard. *sigh* Anyways, I'm still weirdly looking forward to this, even though it'll definitely end up being my least favorite comic book film this year. I'm so ready for Aquaman, more Wonder Woman, and hopefully a Superman that no longer sucks.
If that whole Super Hero Stuff hat description spoiler is to be believed, then Superman's first appearance post-death will be in the black and silver costume and will be super dramatic, which I guess is a moment they'd wanna keep out of most promotional materials. Danny Elfman's description of the use of the classic theme certainly gives some credence to that. If I had to guess, I'd say that Supes will show up either late in the second act or in the third and will fight in the black costume. Then, at the end of the movie, after the big victory, he'll put on the red and blue for a dramatic final hero shot. That'd make the most sense with what we know right now.
I mean Superman's logo is literally at he top of the posters. We all know he's coming back, why does it matter if we see him in the promo material? As mentioned above if he returns in the black costume it will be way cooler if we've never seen it, even if we've expected it.
The thing is, the could easily make those silhouette posters of Supes, in regular costume, and it wouldn't remove the suspoense from the black one.
It makes a lot more sense to hold back on Superman than Steppenwolf. I'd like a Superman trailer reveal a la Spidey in Civil War, Doomsday in BvS, or even Vision in AoU, but I'm also fine with them holding back. Both are fine strategies. But, like, a full reveal of Steppenwolf should've been in the first trailer.
