May be the mushrooms I ate before watching, but I cannot recall one single thing that I just watched. Round two.
I ended up liking this, but still think it had major problems. The last 3 parts were great, but the first 3 were a mess of self indulgence and cramming of backstory. My biggest issue though goes to the connected universe stuff where again, killing Superman in the previous film and having to spend a large chunk of the movie bringing him back was a mistake for both the plot and robbing us of a chance to see him with the rest of the team. The Knightmare stuff is also just too much for me for the same reason. I think if they got a great writer and a more character/story driven co-director with Snyder doing all the action, this could have been something truly special. As it is now on the whole DCEU, we got some ok to good movies that are a hodgepodge of homages to major DC stories (Justice League: Origin, Death/Return of Superman, DKR, John’s Aquaman Run) that don’t fit together well. Which sucks because this casting was great minus Leto.
I think I’d ranked this my 3rd favorite DC universe film behind Man of Steel and Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman Man of Steel Zack Snyder’s Justice League Aquaman BvS Ultimate Birds of Prey WW84 Suicide Squad Still haven’t seen Shazam
Also why did Martian Manhunter not help fight Steppenwolf when he was very obviously aware of what’s going on? And why have the black suit in this movie, show Supes still wearing it in the epilogue saving people, and THEN have him go back to the classic red and blue in the Knightmare when he’s evil? That just feels like you totally missed the mark on his character.
I think letting that Martha scene remain a Martha scene would’ve been helpful in a couple ways, & that’s one of ‘em. In addition to keeping that character moment between Lois & Martha, it would’ve created a scenario where he’s not around for the events of the film & chooses to join them in the aftermath.
It was Autumn’s favorite song. The cover he used for the credits is by an artist who’s friends with the Snyder family & performed the cover at Autumn’s funeral.
Enjoyed this way more than the original. Leto’s joker is bad, they really need to cut and run with him. Way too much slo mo. I think I didn’t mind the 4 hours as we watched over a period of 3 days, though it would be super long for one sitting. Cyborg really got screwed in Whedons version after you see this one.
Not the biggest comic book guy, but enjoy the movies for most part. I saw the original, but didnt remember much. Watched the Snyder cut this weekend (half each day) and was pretty happy with it. Superman seemed the least entertaining. Sure Batman doesnt have any powers, but he was still more enjoyable then Sup and even Wonder Woman. I feel like Leto was obviously better here than cartoony in Suicide Squad, but he had no direction. For part of it he was just trying to be Heath Ledger and didnt even succeed.
I loved what the Knightmare scene was supposed to be and what it could have brought for movies to come. Obviously Leto is just terrible and he was bad in it but overall
