I respect this as a personal preference, because you actually do take movies super seriously as an art form, and as an artist myself I can only respect that.

But legit this only matters in white culture hahaha. Kind of like how every black boss I’ve ever had doesn’t mind me being 5 minutes late because “black people time” is a real thing.

It’s kinda interesting how much white culture is influenced by tyranny and expectations created by ruling classes. Black culture in America is literally entirely built around POC saying “fuck that” to the customs of white society... because it is quickly noticeable to an outsider who lived off the land, that Western, colonized civilization is based around control by the upper class.

That’s the main thing I learned from my African American studies class in college and it literally explains so much about the tension between white people and black people in this country. It explains so much about how black people founded jazz, blues, hip hop and punk rock, all the rebellious genres in music. And historically it’s justified because an oppressed class has every right to rebel and act unruly once they claw their way into freedom.

It was a different dynamic of pure hatred and superemacy before but now I think it’s not that simple and it’s become more subtle. Racist white people are literally just ignorant, and dont have enough context to understand why black culture demands so much respect, and values pride and swagger so much. They just see that as someone being rude and self assuming and that’s why the two sides don’t understand each other.

It took being friends with closet racists and fully understanding their perspective for me to get to that point. I feel like to defeat your enemy you must understand your enemy, and if my enemy is racism I have to know how racists can think that way while also not thinking they are racist.
