yeah I mean I guess that tension between being simultaneously normalized and repressed is partly responsible for any dissonance in the way it may be approached but the ubiquity of alcohol as facilitator of xyz is weird to me. ultimately it doesn't bother me much but sticks out as being a weird social exception in advertising. that you're thinking about how to handle that at all is a good step imo ( as someone who didn't really have those convos extensively)
