What is your reasoning for not wanting to go to local shows?

 

When this person first came up to me this afternoon she was giggling and said it was because I'm handsome but also she had a guy with her who is either her boyfriend or roommate and he never said anything, also she kept telling me she had an abusive ex and some drama with her kids idk it was very strange

 

I’m trying to figure it out guys. I genuinely don’t get how musicians get famous these days. I see fucking ridiculously talented musicians and writers all damn day when I go out and play shows, and they all are happy if even 20 people total show up and they sell two shirts for gas & fast food.

There is so much unknown talent that is way better than half the signed talent and I don’t see how that’s gonna change if people’s perception of local shows is so negative now.

 

For me, the local bands suck ass and are full of creeps where lots of dudes creep on high school girls. They all sound the same haha

I can post a video if you want of a house show I went to and there’s like 7 bands in the compilation video and I swear if you skip to any part of the video you’ll hear the same exact sound

That’s a definitely fair thing and I avoid the pop punk and hardcore scenes for this exact reason haha. But I feel like every venue in cities I’ve lived has different regulars and different styles of music that frequent them so I just attempt to dodge the toxic venues and find music somewhere else haha.

Like you would think that local music is the amateurs and signed professionals are major league but I actually think the distribution of amazing artists vs terrible ones isn’t as far off as most people think. There’s at least like a 50% chance ONE of the performers will totally captivate me usually. It’s not this patronizing thing where I’m pretending to like everyone’s music for their sake, I legit am shocked sometimes how good some of these 15-draw bands are
