I know you probably have a different perspective cause you actively deal w them and whatnot but I don't think involvement =\= engagement. like the extent of their involvement is being defensive, which, whatever I used to do that too, but until that next step is taken to really listen to what people are saying I don't think you really get experience bc the focus at the time is on the wrong part of the convo. that being said, while there continues to be ill thought out and flat out bad takes or approaches among some of the usual suspects, I don't think it's fair to say there's been zero growth at all, it's just very slow. I don't want to name names so no one gets the impression I'm defending consistent shiftiness or one of them sees and thinks I'm patting them on the back for the growth they've made (cause it's never enough to stop trying, for any of us) but I've definitely noticed them listening and asking better questions more often. inching towards the right direction is better than nothing imo. I admit that maybe I'm giving them too much benefit of the doubt cause again, I don't directly interact w a lot of them, but I think "showing up" indicates at least some desire to understand

same and I also sometimes don't know when me trying to be nuanced veers into apologism but I think considering "who does this harm" is a good rule of thumb for differentiating.
