I have an irrational insecurity of parallel parking in front of my building when ppl are outside smoking and watching. Today I was like ok ok ur ridic nobody is actually watching u park or cares. And then when I got out of the car the woman outside smoking was like "nice job parking." Tbh I think she was being genuine lol bit idc it confirms they're watching!!

 

What else they gonna do

 

Idk tbh! Not watch me! I have like a 95% parallel parking success rate but I choke when I know someone is watching. Sometimes i park further away if there are ppl out there smoking just so I can avoid it lol

 

Is the other 5% hitting one of the other cars or just having to redo it? Curious.

I feel like I’ve recently been observing a shift where “outrage” and “cancel” “culture” are terms increasingly being adapted by liberals and labeled as dangerous instead of the empowering thing it continues to be. People are now using “toxic” and other leftist terminology to suppress more than legitimate grievances from marginalized people. It’s the civility conversation in new clothing but is gaining more ground, it’s much more effective and insidious.

I’m the world’s biggest 1975 fan, I’ve also been obsessed with DGD for a long time (check the receipts). But both bands do problematic shit that is incredibly conflicting to me, a vulnerable gay black dude living in this moment in america. The idea that I’m complaining about these things for the clout makes my blood boil. The black anger I have is real and you’ve got to hang with it and let it burn you as much as it burns me if you want to reach out and hold my hand as an ally. Yeah this reeks of toxic masculinity but I’ve weaponized my personal experience and I’m doing my fucking best.

 

Oh for sure, you can see it happen with like Ilhan Omar like literally the Israeli lobby co-opted canceling culture they are not, and will not be the last ones to do it either

Yeah Ive been thinking a lot about this. I feel like "cancel culture" isn't even a thing anyway. Nobody ever actually gets cancelled. If it's referring to bad faith arguments to tear someone down just to be sanctimonious like .... There's a line where we end up making blanket statements and being dismissive. And it's a good way for someone to dodge criticism instead of taking accountability. Taylor Swift was recently talking about cancel culture towards her and like I get it, it was over the top, but in that discussion she was able to place herself as a victim of cancel culture without having to actually address the racial dynamics in the way she lied and tried to reframe the narrative before getting caught. Then she went on to sell a million+ in the first week and had one of the highest grossing tours of all time and still complains about cancel culture getting her. And Taylor is like the tamest example of this because she hasn't assaulted anyone or anything, but it's fresh in my mind cause she spoke of it recently. It's like the new "sjw" where ppl can dismiss all criticism by acting like it's all ridiculous and haterz and ott without thinking critically of their actions, or their faves actions. It's frustrating.

 

Tillian plays enlightened centrist/devils advocate on twitter about social issues that impact people but not him. He defended the atilla frontman for saying a homophobic slur in one of his songs, flaunts white privilege in another, associates with Ronnie Radke. Just generally not the greatest.

 

I am flat out exhausted. Worked 36 hours these past 3 days. And just now heading home from going out to eat in the mission with some co-workers. A little buzzed from margaritas. Ready for bed. Ate at some place with velvet in the title.

I'm doing alright haha. Work was slow the last two weeks so the money wasn't coming in. My check was a little over half of what it usually is. So not great there haha. But yeah, my sleep schedule is so bad rn. Sometimes I work at 11am. Sometimes I work until 2:30am.
