Honestly I just posted here because it just happened and I didn’t rly know how to react. Also I can’t post anything on social media yet because some of the family doesn’t know yet so yeah nowhere to post my thoughts ha
I’m okay, just sucks. She was actually my great aunt so she was older and was really more like a grandparent to me. She was my last living grandparent figure so it’s kind of like the end of an era of having an extended family.
Also she was kind of hip and always said surprisingly progressive things when I would start political arguments at dinner. I’m gonna miss her.

Today I was thinking about how when my mom was my age she had three kids, the oldest being 10, and I'm like wow maybe I am #blessed cause that sounds awful

 

My mom had already had my sister and I. Meanwhile I hang by a thread, lol.

 

Hey, first off I am so sorry for your loss and I know that you're probably on autopilot right now going through the post death feelings. When I lost my mom last year, it was, like you described, the most surreal thing in the world and I get it. My mom was sick too but it still didn't feel real. I still sometimes forget that she isn't just a phone call away. But this isn't about me. Just remember that nothing can prepare you for grief and it isn't a distinct order of steps. It's just weird. That's the only way I can describe it. My mom was very religious too and kept a prayer journal in her last few weeks. I refuse to open it because I'd absolutely break down and it still feels like a violation of privacy even though she's not here.

Needless to say, you're not alone, I know it sucks and is the weirdest feeling in the world. Everything will be okay and just embrace whatever emotions come your way through your grieving. Cheers.
