my dad found out about the job about a month ago and I applied. I ended up taking the written test on Monday (with like 600 people in the event center where I graduated high school) and did pretty well and then found out I had to do the physical test this week too. I did nothing to prepare and haven't been consistently working out in months, so I was pretty surprised I qualified. What with getting lightheaded and out of breath after every part of it. Haha

It's a long process. I have to fill out a personal history questionnaire, which the answers could disqualify me (a bit worried about having to own up to smoking a few months ago, and an arrest I had in 2013). Then there's an intensive background check and a drug test, a polygraph, a college entrance exam, oral interviews which I'm not good at, then a final interview with the fire chief. That last bit happens in December. If I pass everything and they offer me the job, I'll start at the academy in January
