Folks...it's a good movie. Uneven and impossible to compare to the original, but still quite good. Undeniably better than anything that came afterwards.
Not one of his worst imo but even Spielberg's worst is typically more charming or endearing than other directors' middling output.
I grew up disliking Jurassic Park 3, but it’s now one of my favorites. JP1, JP3, and JW1 are the films I rewatch.
I finally watched this and I was pleasantly surprised. There’s a lot they still get wrong - people being over dinos is stupid as shit, the whole medical plot is thin as hell, some of the dialogue was just brutal, and most of all somehow we’re 4 movies into the mutant/man made hybrid species thing and they still haven’t realized it’s in complete opposition to what everyone liked about the original (seeing real looking dinosaurs). But in spite of all those very real flaws it kind of slapped? It had the best action set pieces in the series since lost world. Kind of beautifully shot at points. And it just felt like a bigger scale adventure than the last two and jp3. I don’t really begrudge anyone who hated it because it did in fact stray into dumb as hell territory on multiple occasions, but I thought it was not only fun but actually did more things well than the last two by far. Feel like it was one rewrite away from being legitimately good.
