On my JW portion of the rewatch before seeing Rebirth tonight. I must have blocked out the whole "laser pointer" thing from my brain. Rebirth is automatically better than those movies just by virtue of not having that in the film.
‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Writer on How He Kept the Franchise From Going Extinct Jurassic World Rebirth Writer David Koepp Interview
I had a lot of fun with this one last night, but I’m an easy lay for JP/JW. I’ve seen every movie in theaters except for the original. Probably the 3rd most entertaining movie in the whole franchise.
So stupid the final dinosaur wasn’t even a real dinosaur Also the writing was so bad. They write that Ali’s character lost a kid just so 20 minutes later he can be mad at the dad for having his kids in the ocean on a little boat. And don’t worry Scar Jo reminds you when he’s yelling at the dad that he lost a kid.
Try not to use hyperbole, but this might be the worst “modern blockbuster” I’ve ever seen? Didn’t think we could get worse than Dominion, but here we are. No redeeming qualities whatsoever — saw Megan 2.0 yesterday and this is somehow worse. Awful script/story/writing/characters, editing, music and easily the visually ugliest out of all of them. Nothing was suspenseful or “felt real” and lived in either; and no sense of scale from Edwards is unforgivable. Worst one in the series by far and I hated the last two a lot.
I honestly think this is the best Jurassic film since the original. Enjoyed this all the way through. They finally made dinosaurs terrifying again. The cinematography was great as well. It had likable characters. Easily one of my favorite films of the year so far.
Funny how divisive this film is turning out to be. I enjoyed my time and think it's about on par with III to me. That said it is very dumb and the writing is atrocious and the mutant dino thing was just silly. no need for that. just use the same raptors and t-rex like usual. Despite its numerous flaws, I didn't mind it really. i liked how the scientist was game to do whatever and wasn't some whiny dude.
They literally just reheated bits from Jurassic Park and Jaws and Raiders. As a filmgoer I always find that shit insulting.
funny enough, i'd put this no lower than #4 in the whole franchise. that's how asscheeks these films are save the first one
I mean I’d also probably have it at 4? I think JW stinks and I haven’t seen FK or Dominion but I can’t imagine they’re any better.
Genuine question, at what point did you find the dinosaurs terrifying? I felt the complete opposite in that regard.
The T Rex tracking the family as they flowed down the river was probably the most tense and terrifying part to me. Also the entire Mesosaurus/Spinosaurus scene. Anything with dinosaurs in the sea creeps me out. I’ve always been scared of giant sea creatures.
I had a lot of fun with this. Nothing groundbreaking, but very straightforward and (IMO) focused on the right things. I liked the main trio of characters and thought it corrected a lot of what I actively disliked about the last few movies. All in all, a step in the right direction for sure which all I really wanted out of this lol. I actually think I want to go see it again.
I love Ali and enjoy Scar Jo and think they were both terrible here because of the writing. The scientist dude was the only somewhat okay character.
can't get over how they dragged out their first usage of altoids for big laughs, only to get complete radio silence from my audience
Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I never felt like any character was in danger during the raft sequence.
