i've watched them all, so not like i'm gonna stop, but this trailer has me more excited aside from the dino pet they have lol
If I didn’t know any better, I’d think these last few entries were produced by Simpson/Bruckheimer. True coke-era shit.
This trailer actually got me interested! But it's baffling to me that it still looks worse than JP and TLW. My brain is going "animated dinosaur!" instead of "dinosaur!". The whole movie might as well be animated at this point.
I think Jurassic Park as a franchise just needs to go away for a bit. Recoup then come back strong. New one looks as dumb as the last.
i mean it went away for 14 years and people still shit all over Jurassic World lol, by now after 6 movies i dont think its a franchise capable of being revived the way people are wanting. just give me stupid fun dino movies every few years and i'll be seated in the theater.
Yeah, my mentality is always "This one could have been better. Try again in a few years." At the very least, I have fun with the goofiness of them all and they continue to rake in a billion dollars each time so oh well. It at least sounds like with this movie though, their intention was to rebound things a little bit. Whether or not they'll succeed, who knows. But I at least appreciate that they didn't want to jump ship after the mess that was Dominion.
I (somehow) am just getting around to the novel for the first time ever after finding the audiobook on YouTube. It’s pretty great. I think I actually appreciate the movie even more now seeing how they were able to successfully streamline and condense the story down without losing too much.
I still think the original sin of these newer Jurassic World movies was the creative decision to have the stories take place in a world where people are “over” dinosaurs being a spectacle. 32 years later, and you can still feel the awe when Dr. Grant reaches down and turns Dr. Sattler’s head away from the plant and towards the brachiosaurus. I just can't wrap my head around looking at that and thinking “yeah, that's definitely what we want to avoid in the new movie at all costs.” Our butts are in the seats because dinosaurs are awesome to look at, and then the movie itself is kinda working against this idea from the start. I'm not saying it isn't somewhat realistic in a cynical way, but that doesn't mean it makes for a good movie. Realism is not what these movies are all about. With so many places they could have gone with the story for these movies, the one they ultimately went with was incredibly disappointing. bringing in a woefully vanilla and unprepared director certainly didn't help either
I think Spielberg was bringing all of his considerable talent to bear to convey that sense of awe and excitement and danger to the audience in Jurassic Park, and in Jurassic World we had a hack director trying to convey the idea that dinosaurs are pedestrian and not something to get excited about by shooting everything in a very pedestrian and unexciting way Frank Marshall was 68/69 when Jurassic World came out - he should've gotten the nod based on Arachnophobia alone!
I don't even think the idea that "dinosaurs are boring now" was a realistic premise to begin with. People were only able to see dinosaurs for a decade, tops, in one single location on the entire planet. haha. In-universe, I think you could just wave it away as a greedy excuse to push things further with the Indominous (and the back-door greenlighting of the military contract as a result). I initially just took it to be a bullshit sales pitch to sell the investors on the idea of a custom dinosaur even though I do think the writers actually meant for the world to be bored of them.
That’s the one thing I’m postive that Edwards will be able to convey. Whether it was Godzilla or Vader, he excels at nailing what exactly makes the subject interesting from the audience’s perspective. If he can apply his past successes to the Dinos in Rebirth that alone will be an improvement. The story can be whatever
