I was literally just reading this. So it appears the sequels are still in canon but are just “placed to the side” for now.

Wouldn’t you get into some shit for stealing a kid? Clone or not?

people who want to hate it are going to hate it. people who want to enjoy it are going to enjoy it.

I don't think anything will change that for the next one.

Well, I'm assuming no one outside of that house knows the kid exists, so there are likely no consequences there.

I don't understand this. Who goes into a movie wanting to hate it? If you think there's no way you'll like it, why go?

you'll have to ask those people. I generally enjoy movies that I go to.

some people like to watch movies just to shit on them.

people like to go watch movies they think theyll hate so they can hate it and then make shitty youtube videos about "everything wrong with them."

Seems like a huge waste of time.

I went into this having really enjoyed the last one and hoping to have as much fun with this. Came out disappointed.

I was speaking in general sense. I know some people that were excited for it are not going to be happy with it.

I was excited for it and I enjoyed it, I didn't think it was great or even that "good" of a movie, but I thought it was fun and had tons of dinosaurs which was what I wanted to see.

No worries, I didn't think you were calling anyone out specifically. I just found that concept of wanting to hate a movie odd, but it's not too surprising I guess when I really think about how people are these days.

I'm glad people are having more fun with this than I did.

That youtube channel was fun for a little bit when it was just pointing out small/fun to spot little continuity errors and goofs, but I really can't stand it now. It's so overly nitpicky and it's ended up contributing nothing to actual film criticism and discussion.

I get what you are saying. I felt the same way about people who were bashing TLJ. You definitely have to suspend some belief in watching these films and forgive minor inconsistencies. I don’t have a problem with the whole islands thing and they couldve just moved them there or that level of stuff.

but I think when a film asks you to do that too much and especially with important stuff that determines the plot (like that guy going in the cage as a means to let the raptor loose), it’s fair to criticize the lack of care in the screenplay. After all treating movies seriously and asking more from them is. If we’re just happy with everything than studios are going to care less about story and characters and were just going to get more mindless action.

Having a gun that you have to aim and then press a button to send a raptor to kill when you can just shoot the gun is pretty lazy to me. Thin characters, a incoherent story, and bad dialogue are fair criticisms of this movie. Treating your main theme and moral lesson with little depth using it basically as a means to justify the third installment so the Dinos actually take over warrants some criticism.

Like you I still enjoyed the movie despite it all, nor do I think people who love it are wrong for loving it but I think criticism is fair and necessary if well grounded.

Yeah but what do they say when friends/relatives are like “so... are we just not gonna talk about y’all having a 10 year old British child?”

Yeah I'm not saying that there's no good criticisms of the movie. it had problems and dumb stuff in it. I agree with both of the specific points you make here especially the guy getting in the cage, that was really dumb. the gun laser thing I could still see a use for that beyond just shoot a gun instead.

I don't think hollywood cares either way though, we still paid to watch the movie and that's what they care about. paying to watch and then saying it's bad doesn't matter, the movie production company still got their money and they'll expect most of us to see the next one too.

As I’ve said, Claire is a clone. She has no relatives. Her only friends were in this movie and know what happened. Boom

lol i wonder if they realized how big of a plot hole they'd create with this completely unnecessary little girl

Good point but as we saw with Transformers there will be a breaking point. And if this movie was a great movie and would’ve got good buzz it would’ve made even more buttloads of money so they should care. Opening weekends are important but it’s run is also important. The reason IT, Wonder Woman, Black Panther made so much is because of the buzz and word of mouth and they had long legs because of it

I didn’t see this, and I don’t know if it will, but I was reading some spoiler reviews and why didn’t they move the dinosaurs to the old island? Did they address this?

  22. littlejohn

    Prestigious Prestigious

they didn't really address it, but I assume it's due to $$$$$ and not being able to decide what to do with the dinos themselves.

    you should see it doggo.

yeah we just talked about it. they didnt, and characters who probably shouldve brought it up didnt, but the bad people who were taking them off the island in the first place needed to take them back to America anyways so it didnt really matter

I dunno, I might. I didn’t like the last one. But I’ve heard this one is so ridiculous that it’s pretty entertaining for it. I still haven’t seen Solo, Deadpool, or Incredibles.

I haven't seen any of those other movies either, but I have kids and don't work in a movie theater so I have excuses.
