I saw it last night and while there was a lot bad about it, I enjoyed the crap out of it. The whole weaponization of dinos thing has always been a gigantic no from me but the broad strokes of the bad guy plot were kind of great. I remember walking out of JW thinking “damn, they have set up for a REALLY shitty sequel.” But tbh I thought the indoraptor was much much cooler than the I Rex, and actually felt kind of earned with all the training stuff from JW1.

The writing was still bad, thank goodness Trevorrow lost episode 9. And I could do with a little less Owen as Indiana Jones. The scene with the pachy knocking the shit out of all the bad guys was awesome and didn’t need Chris Pratt to go 1 vs 30 to make it so.

The mansion stuff was basically a really fun monster movie. And that’s kind of what this series is - Jurassic Park is a legitimately great movie, and these films are almost entirely different and stupider. But as far as blockbusters go they still deliver for me on some level and I’m excited to see how they wrap it up.

Just realized that putting Jake Johnson's character from the first one in for that kid who screamed a lot and changing his dialogue to fit him probably wouldve made that aspect (and especially comedy) way better. It also would have made WAY more sense considering ya know he was in the first one AS an tech engineer or whatever and they needed him because he knew the park.

    Maybe thats too obvious though

I mostly didn’t care for the I-raptor because they made a 2 hour movie of a bigger version of it 3 years ago. The “freshness” of a genetically made dinosaur wore right off.

Guys, check it out, I fixed the movie:

CLAIRE’s hand hovers over the button

OWEN: Claire, think about it. If you press that button, there’s no telling what could happen. People will die.

CLAIRE: We can’t just let all the dinosaurs die, Owen!

CLAIRE thinks it over, then reluctantly relents. She lets out a frustrated cry.

OWEN (comforting her): You did the right thing.

Suddenly, mechanical whirring is heard as the door is opened. OWEN and CLAIRE turn to see MAISIE with her hand on the button.

    MAISIE: They’re alive...like me.

As the dinosaurs run free into the outside world, Mr. Brightside by The Killers begins playing.

INDORAPTOR (lip syncing to the camera): Coming out of my cage and I’ve been doing just fine...

The INDORAPTOR winks to the camera as the dinosaurs begin mauling nearby humans. Suddenly, a man steps out of the shadows.

    BRANDON FLOWERS: Stop!

The dinosaurs stop their mauling and turn towards BRANDON FLOWERS. The rest of THE KILLERS appear behind him.

BRANDON FLOWERS: I think we’ve got another song that’s a little more thematically resonant for this situation. Hit it, boys!

THE KILLERS begin playing Human. The dinosaurs vaguely remember hearing this on the radio a few times back in 2008 and begin dancing. They are into it, although they aren’t quite sure what the lyrics in the chorus mean. Eventually they are joined the BRACHIOSAURUS, who didn’t actually die in the volcano eruption and is totally fine. His friends are very happy to see him.

I don't think there will actually be weaponized dinosaurs in the next one - I feel like a lot of it will be two sides trying to track down Blue (Chris Pratt/BDH side and Dr Wu's side) because she will be the key to production of the super raptors and no-one has any DNA from the Indo Rex any longer. The other dinos that were purchased all kick ass in their own ways, but the raptors are the only ones that have been set up to use as weapons thus far, I'm thinking all the others will just be used for action scenes where they're causing havoc around cities & whatnot!

I was just thinking about how clumsy the transitions were in this movie. Reminds me of a basic movie-based video game plot or a VR theme park ride plot. Nothing ever had any foundation which at least the last film had.

I'm wondering when the fatigue hits for this. They are undoubtedly going to milk it as long as they can. I want to see where that giant Tranformers size wall is.

IIRC, they said this would be a new trilogy, assuming the next film will be the last. Unless another director picks it up and runs with it post-JW3.

Who would everyone choose to replace Trevorrow? I'd go with Matt Reeves or Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Its a shame one of my favorite movies ever never had a good sequel. 4 bad sequels in really stings. Makes me glad Ghostbusters stopped at one bad sequel.
