.......on an island that they must have known had an active volcano right?

It's a little baffling they didn't go with the military story line they set up in the last one right?

I imagine the explanation will be that the hundreds of dinosaurs on the island represent a massive financial investment that would be lost if the island is destroyed.

lol, the more we talk about this, the more hilarious it all becomes. I don’t know how these screenwriters and Hollywood execs think some of this stuff if okay. Like, I get that it’s a movie about dinosaurs, but that’s the premise of the movie so I am able to suspend my disbelief, but it should still make sense

Doesn't like all of Hawaii have active volcanoes?

Apparently everything in the trailer is in the first half of the movie so I expect there to be a continuation of the military/Wu plot in addition to the rescue operation. Isla Nublar being volcanic had quite a few mentions in the first novel so I don't find it that surprising. There's a geothermic power plant on the island for a reason.

Deus Rex Machina. I care about Rexy far more than any of the characters from Jurassic World. That original Jurassic Park roar though!

The Carnotaurus hype... "You raised my hopes and dashed them quite expertly, sir. Bravo!"

Looks like Baryonyx and then maybe Suchomimus in the stampede are the other new carnivores in the trailer. And Styracosaurus making its debut by drowning I guess.

tbh I felt sad watching the dinos fall of the cliff.

Didn't care when the ball with humans did. #teamdinos

Isla Nublar isn't near Hawaii it's off the coast of Costa Rica.

    lol I know.

But idk a shit ton of people live in Hawaii with some active volcanoes, is it that far fetched they'd build the park on an island with a volcanoe? Idk, I don't think that plot point is going to be the worst part of the movie haha.

I got into a discussion with someone about that same thing. The first movie had some goofy plot holes and things and was still a "monster" movie in a way, but it still felt believable within the premise of the film, if that makes sense. Like it did an excellent job about making you actually feel what it would be like if dinosaurs were brought back. You still had to suspend your belief but not completely abandon all logic (both real world and in-universe). The person's only response was "It's supposed to be be a stupid monster movie" - I just said "Ok, nevermind".

Costa Rica sits right along the ring of fire. It's on the Middle America trench. Here's a photo from Costa Rica from April 2017. Not hard to say Isla Nublar had a long dormant volcano and it seemed a safe place to build.

Isla Nublar is volcanic in the novel at least.

"It is not a true island, but a volcanically active seamount or underwater island thrust up past the surface of the sea. Along the south side of the island are natural steam vents indicating the continuing volcanic activity. The volcanic activity enables a geothermal power plant to be built in the northern mountains."

Jurassic World has a set of logic that is completely abandons, so I can’t agree with you there. But yeah like, I can suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy Star Wars, despite the fact that a smugglers best friend and co-pilot is a big ass dog. But that doesn’t mean it should just be devoid of criticism.

Sorry, I meant Jurassic Park set up the logic for the franchise and then Jurassic World can't make up its mind whether or not it wants to abide by those set of rules. It's not even consistent with itself (which is separate from just having a crazy premise to begin with). You have to reconcile a lot more sometimes. haha.

    My one gripe..

How does a rescue op on an active volcano have a bunch of kids involved? Who signed those waivers?

Kids? The youngest people in the trailer looks like they're in their 20's unless I missed something.

The boy with glasses in the spheremobile with BDH's character, and the girl on the docks looked like kids to me.

As far as the actors go, he's 22 and she's 30.

Makes sense that there would be 20 somethings in what is essentially an activist group. They're supposed to be scientists so maybe grad students or something? Who knows. Just happy there's (hopefully) no children on the island for the first movie ever.

Well, I am older than 22, and I did not look that young at 22. I also didn't scream as if I had not hit puberty yet, at 22. Which was also why I believed him to be a kid.
