The digital versus practical effects balance is not what has made these new films bad. You need human characters with three dimensional personalities.
Why can’t they just use real dinos in filming? Are they afraid PETA is gonna sue them for mistreatment?
Use of practical vs digital effects is a big piece of the puzzle. There’s also, like, what kinda scene you’re trying to make, how it’s framed, etc., but yeah. Having physical components where possible instead of just slapping lazy digital creations over filmed empty space certainly helps. Like, personally, if we’re talking basic popcorn entertainment, like even mediocre to bad genre filmmaking, I’m gonna be more entertained & immersed it clunky, campy, low budget effects where I can feel the physicality of it, than poorly constructed digital effects that feel flat & lifeless. If you’re smart with what you’re using, it obviously doesn’t matter. But, if you’re just trying to make a fun spectacle, like, the Super Sentai giant monsters in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers work a lot better aesthetically for me than anything in Jurassic World.
Watching the original yesterday and the blend of practical and CGI in the T Rex introduction is perfect
Really curious as to how they factor into the story. If the dinosaurs are all over the world now, what’s their significance?
Comparing some of the animatronics used in the first movie to the CGI in Fallen Kingdom, Blue especially, is so depressing. Literally looks like a paper mâché.
expectations aside on how much i feel this movie will be a that tweet made me say 'hell yeah' out loud hah
