I watched the prologue for the first time today. Why did they cut that? I didn't mind the opening, but that was way better.
I thought this was a pretty good movie, but I cannot wrap my head around looking at that 5½ minutes and feeling like you had to drop that while still keeping some of the other stuff that made it in. Absolutely fucking absurd.
Yeah I’ve watched that prologue many times do to the fact my son loves it and can’t wrap my head around cutting it. It’s probably the best cgi in the whole trilogy too imo.
I held off on watching the prologue for like a year or whatever because I wanted to see it in theaters for the first time, so I was pretty bummed it wasn't in the actual movie. Still haven't seen it because I'm salty about the whole thing.
I wish they had leaned harder into this type of stuff. There was a little bit of it - like the work crew directing the big dino away in the snow - but what little there was was largely the best stuff in the movie. I know it's kinda gimmicky, but it's a fun gimmick, and for me it really worked. These are all from ancillary marketing material, but to me they feel like they came from a version of this movie directed by Gareth Edwards. I love it.
I would have loved these moments more if they weren't presented in the frame of a NowThis video meant to catch the audience up on the last film lol
Yeah, that's why I thought they really nailed it with that scene in the snow with the workers and the brontosaurus(?) - it captured the spirit of that idea without just being a straight up gimmick / found footage type deal, and it was also part of the movie proper.
Just got out from seeing it again, this time with my mom. She rarely goes to the theater, so I go with her when she actually wants to. Overall, she liked it like I did. But her main comment was, “it was too long. A lot of things were stretched out, like, we get it, move on.” Hahaha
Man this was terrible. Was a good theater flick though. Don’t regret the $8 I spent on a matinee. After seeing this I’m not sure what Treverrow would have put out for Episode 9 would have been any better than what we got. I mean it’s a movie about dinosaurs at the end of the day and I saw some kick ass dinosaurs.
I saw that too, but I was so disgusted by this after seeing it in the theater, that I have no desire to watch it again
I had a dream last night that instead of whatever the plot was to this movie, they were chasing a big Dino named Jeff who was wreaking havoc on a mid sized town. At one point they were chasing Jeff through a grocery store and he escaped by stealing my a motorcycle and driving it away. This movie should have been that.
Again, it's a movie about dinosaurs, as part of a crazy successful series about dinosaurs, and people go to see this movie for the dinosaurs, and they make the baddie in the film fucking GIANT LOCUSTS?!?!
This was fine. I definitely liked it a lot more than Fallen Kingdom, even if it was way too long. Aside from the locusts my only other major gripe was that the last fight between T-rex and Giga was so forced and lame. Just a rehash of the JW finish. I did enjoy the call back to the the original JP raptor kitchen scene when Pratt and the other actress were running away from the ice raptor. Her random scream while running followed by cramming into a little space and closing the latch down just before the raptor gets to them was fun. (At least I think that was a nod to that scene).
