I enjoyed it enough. The writing's been pretty bad the whole series so that's nothing new. Because there are so many characters, they're all really underwritten. I like BDH a lot and DeWanda Wise was really good. There's a lot of action, one sequence felt like a Fast & Furious movie.

The best thing I can say about this is it’s not as bad as FK. I have so many thoughts and almost none of them are good. Yikes

So the dinosaurs being in the real world now have hardly anything to do with the plot of this movie lol. I can’t get over it

I think the worst thing this film has going for it is that it's a follow-up to Fallen Kingdom. Fallen Kingdom had such a poor premise and this just expands on it.

I honestly, truly, think Colin Trevorrow needs to be banned from filmmaking in any capacity

This sort of sums it up for me as well. My overall take on this movie is “pleasantly surprised” after seeing the bad reviews. It’s no masterpiece and it’s pretty bloated, but I had a blast with this one. Way less “God that was so dumb” knee jerk reactions than the last two movies. Certainly felt better about it afterwards than Fallen Kingdom lol. But yeah, the dinosaurs do seem less threatening now, but this whole trilogy has given the heroes insane plot armor so maybe I’m just used to it by now.

I’m also puzzled by the fact that they’ve now had two movies sort of built up to be “oh no, dinosaurs are free on the main land!” and neither one really ended up doing that. Especially weird considering Battle at Big Rock and the Dominion prologue both showcased the dinos fucking things up. Dinosaurs are freely roaming the earth, yet this movie has probably the lowest kill count of the franchise.

  7. the mine scene was awesome. and this was an hour too long.

My baseline for hating this more than FK is that they roped the original cast in for the sake of member berries and not much else. They should have given clone girl the Newt/“Alien 3” treatment so we could at least spend some time with Grant and Ellie before they have to commit some hijinks and also not have to deal with clone girl.

It ending on a speech about the delicate balance of life and the visuals they show are truly hilarious. Absolutely no way dinosaurs are living with other animals and not wiping out entire ecosystems and changing our way of life in a likely negative way. Trevorrow is way too afraid to grapple with that. A truly incompetent writer and director.

Yea, the whole living with dinosaurs truly only bookends the movie. The Malta scene could be argued as an example of it, but I would argue that it’s not quite the same thing though. It wasn’t about how the dinosaurs have been living there, they were imprisoned and then set loose and caused chaos. The raptors had only just arrived, so it’s not like they were just living their best life there. It’s odd that Trevorrow and the like said this was all about asking the question of what would life be like with dinosaurs living among us and then instead it’s about bad man being bad and locusts.

Hahaha on your raptor comment, Claire outrunning a raptor on the rooftop was definitely 100% unbelievable to me. Like Claire should be dead, no question about it.

I’m not sure where I’d rank it. I started a rewatch to lead up to this, but I got a new job and have been super busy so I only got through the first 2. But I will be seeing this again with my mom at some point before it leaves theaters. Jurassic Park and Harry Potter are like the only movies she will go to a theater for, but she wants to avoid crowds so she didn’t come last night. I’ll rewatch 3-5 before that and be better able to see where I’d rank it. But at the moment, I’d probably put it in 3rd but my 1/2 would be the OG and Lost World.

It had nothing to do with the plot. The plot didn’t even need dinosaurs outside of Beta. As long as they had the ancient dna, they could have made the locusts. Everything revolves around that. I can’t remember, was it even Dino DNA they used in the locust? Or just dna from the Cretaceous era?

yea, but I oddly think they did okay with that stuff. The whole laser gun target thing was far more interesting here than FK.

yes, despite thinking this was fine, we deserve better.

I dunno. I like what we got from the OG. Ellie and Alan’s story was satisfying and had a good ending for me. Like, about damn time! Malcom was a little bit less as well done, I did laugh at him basically recreating the trex scene where he had the flare in the OG. Although I thought for a moment he may sacrifice himself to save the others, that would have made the stakes feel more real for the others. But instead he is like an expert spear thrower. Oh well.

Yes, the ending sequence does feel off for the reasons you said and the emotion of most of it is pretty much unearned…. But like I said earlier it still kind of worked for me. Maybe I’m just in an emotional moment as I’ve been digging through my past and various other things that are emotional, but ending with all the families worked for me.

So Maise let’s all the Dino’s out at the end of FK because they’re “just like her” and then they take over the world but it turns out she’s not actually a clone sooooo I guess that’s her bad?

Hahahaha I’m honestly glad I didn’t get to finish my rewatch now. That would have probably occurred to me if I had seen FK since the theater. Oopsies. She’s a kid, I give her a pass.

Yeah it’s just weird - I feel like they shoulda just kept her as a clone haha

Maybe, but at least they did something with the reveal. Maisey did not feel like a real human. She felt isolated and not a part of humanity because she thought she was merely a clone. Claire and Owen couldn’t be her parents because she was not an actual human. Having her learn that she was actually birthed and had an actual mother helped her rethink her identity and self worth. It allowed her to embrace Owen and Claire as her parents. It’s not super deep or anything, but I liked that.

What a strange movie. Spent the last movie and multiple short films over the last 4 years to setup dinosaurs existing in the real world, only to not focus on that at all and instead give us two different plots that feel like they are torn from different franchises altogether.

Loved the new dinosaurs and some of the chases but not much else.

  16. Yeah some of this felt like Star Wars haha. There’s a whole SW cantina scene with female Han Solo being needed to pilot a plane. So strange.

I’ve been poking my head in periodically today and from I can gather this movie is about spies looking for a clone girl and one of the spies has a pet dinosaur and also the enemies are giant bugs

What the fuck is this movie

Truly don’t get making the locust thing the main plot device/subject, in the final film of a dinosaur series. Other than Biosyn being destroyed, and a “cure” to help destroy random locusts, nothing really changed. And other than the locust experiment, was Biosyn all that bad? Maybe I missed some plot points

Well there was also the dinosaur trafficking and kidnapping of a 14 year old girl by Biosyn lol

I feel like the locust experiment to take over the world food chain was bad enough in it self though lol
