Not expecting much from this; I just want a fun, entertaining ride

This was quite fun actually. Just a fun ride, as all it’s trying to be

I liked it. We started watching it with my 8 year old (who has seen most of the PotC movies) and she said NOPE when those stabbings started happening early in. Wasn't what I expected violence wise (guess I didn't think it was PG-13, since it was a Disney movie based on a popular ride), but alas...

Knocking out all the JC tour guide jokes at the beginning was a bit cheesy but nice to just get out of the way (for the most part). Casting choices were... interesting with Plemons and Giammti. But the movie was fun. You have to suspend belief watching any Disney movie (and boy, was it suspended at times here), but I can see this turning into a franchise.

Had a blast. It knows exactly what is and doesn’t try for more. Plemons getting into with a bee is movie gold

Thought this was great. Totally knew what it was and had fun with it. My only minor complaint is the story has probably too many similarities to Pirates, but I can look past that.

Yeah definitely had a lot of PotC vibe/similarities at times. Almost felt like they're trying to force a sequel right off the back.

How much does this tie into the actual ride at Disney? @Matt

They throw a lot of jokes/references at you in the beginning, and there's one or two character names you'll recognize from the ride, but otherwise it doesn't really have much to do with it.

plemons looked like he was in some other film. he'd also disappear for stretches of time that when he'd reemerge it's like "oh yeah, he's in this"

    this was ehh

I thought this was okay. Could have done without the supernatural stuff, especially with The Rock’s character I also had no idea it was PG13. Was maybe a little too intense for my daughters. Would give it a C+

We showed it to the students on Friday. The only part I remember is The Rock suplexing a tiger.

Kind of surprising it's only gotten $100 million.
