As much as I love Now, Now, seeing Julien getting so much press coverage and so on, I'd assume she's seriously already bigger then them. Would love to see them tour together of course, but I thought her supporting Touche Amore was much more interesting in a way.

  2. Shameless plug for anyone who might've missed it, here's my AP interview with Julien from last year!

  4. Thanks for reading! She's one of the nicest and most genuine people I've had the opportunity of interviewing. Really hope I get to speak with her again in the future.

Touché was on the label she's on, she's real based in the hardcore scene

    Might be Spider-Man...

Is her record on vinyl? If it is that's something I definitely need in my life

Yeah, but I think it's pretty limited. The first pressing sold out in a couple months, then I got the second pressing when it came out and I think it's only limited to 300 or something.

Now, Now is pretty good. Julien Baker's album is way better.

Her going on tour with Touche seems very very strange to me. I read cwhit's post but still....odd

Due to what seems like widespread appraisal on here I think I need to check this girl out

Getting big into Meg Myers and Wolf Alice in the past year and a half has really spiked my interest in recent female artists in indie/alternative haha

Sing me a story I haven't heard yet. Prestigious

For anyone who hasn't heard it, there's a full band Julien Baker song billed under her name (not The Star Killers or Forrister), that i found on a Bandcamp comp (that's now disappeared) back before the album came out when she'd only put up 'Something' and 'Sprained Ankle', and i was desperate to find anything else by her. I've been sitting on it for a while, and keep meaning to upload it. I think it may be the elusive "Sad song #10" that was speculated over when she named Funeral Pyre as "Sad song #11" in the Tiny Desk Concert on NPR.

    It's called 'Whenever I'm Alone' and i'll upload it... Dropbox - 10 Whenever I'm Alone.mp3

Or maybe it's well known among fans. I don't know. If you haven't heard it, enjoy. I also have an mp3 of her at 14 doing a cover of 'Nothing Better' by The Postal Service, if anyone's interested.

I haven't heard that song before, but if I were to bet money, I'd say that Sad Song #10 is probably the song she plays live right before she plays Funeral Pyre. This sounds pretty different from everything else on Sprained Ankle. It sounds more like a Forrister/Star Killers track. Maybe it was something she did in between that and venturing into solo stuff.

disagree on both accounts, haha. it's sort of like how nicole dollanganger plays with single mothers and other canadian punk/hardcore bands, upbringing and scene means everything. that's why pinegrove is playing with emo bands

I saw this article, and it looks like she's already planning to record the next album in a few months.

    Where are your friends tonight?

I'm so excited to hear more music from Julien. It's been awhile since I've connected to an album as much as I have with Sprained Ankle, finding music like that is such a special thing.
