for these shows i always just try and scope out that window outside since im never on time. what im hopin to do if i make it to pinegrove tonight.
she's really lovely, found out about her years ago through a publicist and ended up going to her show in dc to write up a piece, really nice set
Yeah Luray was awesome lastnight! Julien was great too, of course. She signed my vinyl after the show.
Thanks for pointing that out, I've just checked her out just becasue of that right now : ) Julien playing together with Pinegrove would be too perfect! I could only imagine a collaboration as well... As for Julien's setup - in Europe she had her guitar only, and she did play Go Home, but with a piano sample activated through her pedalboard, which kinda gave me some mixed feelings as she only played some delayed swells on the guitar, which got even louder than the piano line, but it was beatufil anyway!
i saw her live in a bad venue, almost wish i hadn't seen her to start. nothing about the performance really hit me, the sound was too bad to really care
I think I've told this shameful story here, but I had tickets to see her one night and got wrapped up in that Warriors-Thunder game where Steph Curry hit that insane OT buzzer beater. Walked up to the venue at 9 assuming we'd catch the last part of her opener's set before she came on, but people were already filing out of the venue. Apparently she went on at 8:15 and finished at 9. Devastating.
Dude. This hits way too close to home. I won 2 tickets to see Death From Above 1979 a few months ago. Black Motor Bicycle Club (I think that's what they were called) were also on the bill. The show was at a venue right across the street from my apartment so my buddy and I just chilled at my place and "pre-gamed" with some alcoholic beverages because we didn't want to see the openers. So we go over at around 9 or so, when the headliner would normally start. We heard DFA1979 already playing so we ran in thinking "HELL YEAH! We made it just in time!" We took a couple pictures of them, and then the song ended and they said, "THANK YOU! GOOD NIGHT!" and they were done..................... Apparently, they weren't the headliner, despite what all the of the publications had made it seem. We were sooooooo bummed! At least I didn't pay for the tickets, and we saw them just a year or so ago at a super small venue. But it still hurt like a mother fucker. I'll never again show up late to a concert. Lesson learned....
I have so much anxiety surrounding shows that showing up late would only exacerbate the problem. I don't think I've ever been late to a show on purpose.
Oof, that's rough. This reminded me though, I've also been late to Band of Horses because we wanted to get French Dip sandwiches from one of the places that claims to have invented them. Missed over half of their set. And another time I bought Manchester Orchestra tickets for their Dallas date. I live in San Diego. I'm really bad at going to concerts, apparently.
I can't properly explain why this made me laugh so hard. How many places claim to have invented french dip sandwiches?? In other news, these stories all make me sad.
Two places in LA: Philippe's and Cole's. We went to Cole's that night with seemingly plenty of time, but there was a pub crawl that had gotten there right before us so our food took about an hour to come out. Super worth it though. So good. It was right after Infinite Arms came out and BoH were just starting to lose the magic, so I'm not so upset about it.

Wow, mostly all new tracks. No Red Door or Funeral Pyre. Also, I was literally just about to message her on Twitter to ask a couple questions for my thesis. I drafted up the whole thing, and thought I should wait a little bit. Glad I did, haha.
I can think maybe five tracks she has played live, but really happy with how it looks. So pleased Claws is on there as it is my fave new song atm.
