shrug we don't know for sure it was a contract thing right? could've been an honest mistake that it went up (idk how long it was up)
I'm seeing her tonight! I can't wait! I know it's unlikely, but I'd love if she played Distant Solar Systems.
Pretty standard, actually. It's also why there are so much headaches when a rapper wants to do a guest verse on a song being released by a rival label. Also if you follow the Blink 182 drama at all, it's also the reason why Tom left the second time. Their label agreement said that Tom couldn't release Angels & Airwaves music during the year Blink was supposed to be recording/promoting their new album.
I finally read this thread from beginning to end and now I'm checking out Phoebe Bridgers and I'm loving what I'm hearing so far. I've found that whenever people try and cover Julien, the voice just doesn't fit with the song at all and it's a bit jarring. Julien's voice is just so perfect that nothing comes close.
Well that was incredible. She was amazing, unsurprisingly, and I'd probably put this show among the best I've ever attended. For those that remember my post about writing her a letter, I went ahead and did it, and handed it to her after the show. We only spoke for a minute or so because there were other people waiting to talk to her and I was having major anxiety, but she was so kind and gracious. I had really vacillated between writing the letter or not, but I'm glad I did it and even more glad that I mustered the courage to give it to her. She is truly becoming one of the, if not the most, important artists in my life, and I'm just so thankful for her music and her positive force in the world. Oh, and she told me her new record will be out in the fall. So there's that.
There hasn't been an artist that has impacted me like Julien in a very long time. Words can't describe how excited I am for this album.
As excited as I am I will always feel a bit of dread because I know how disappointed I will be if it doesn't surpass Sprained Ankle. I'm confident that it will but she's just set herself up for such high expectations.
Based on the two/three new songs I've heard - I'm pretty sure she could just release those and I'd die happy.
I'm definitely going to have to temper my expectations before it comes out. It's not fair to compare it to Sprained Ankle, because that album means so much to me. That being said, based just on the strength of the two new songs I heard her play, I think she is setting herself up to top it.
