I also love the moment at the end of the next verse when she sings "Leave me inside in a body made of wood" and the subtle chord change right after makes that recurring guitar part sound extra sad.
While we're talking about some of the (many, many) amazing moments on this album; I was listening to this album while driving earlier tonight, and Hurt Less came on... The part where she sings "When I'm pitched...", the way the piano and her voice weave together, it's really hard to explain and I'm not eloquent enough to describe it, but driving in the dark on empty roads listening to this song was an experience.
The little flutter on the piano in Televangelist!!! I think it’s just after the first couple verses. A little instrumental piano part.
These setlist renames are too good. The puns are strong. I love how Julien renames some of her songs on her setlists • r/JulienBaker
OK, its been a few weeks now since it's release. What's everyone's favorite song? Sour Breath is probably my favorite at the moment.
Claws In Your Back is my favorite and potentially my SOTY, but it’d be a crime not to mention Hurt Less and Televangelist as well.
Sour Breath is mine too, actually one of my best songs of the year. EDIT: The way it builds and builds is just like nothing I've heard lately. She is a wonderful songwriter, vocalist, and musician.
I think I kind of discounted Appointments since it had been out so long, but that is a hell of a song. It’s between that and Everything that Helps You Sleep for me.
well I've listened to the album nonstop since it's been out, but today I finally bought the physical CD (yes I still buy CDs) and listening to it in my car was a whole different experience. The hairs on my neck stood up at the end of Claws In Your Back and I 100% teared up. A song has only made me do that maybe twice in the past 15 years?
At this point it's Happy To Be Here for me. I resonate so hard lyrically and that chorus is amazing. Favorite moment is when the organ comes in on Televangelist though. Don't know why that part gets me.
This whole album is just fucking up my life right now. In the best way possible. Televangelist, and Happy To Be Here are my favorites.
Shadowboxing was actually my clear least favorite from the get go. Now I've listened enough to know that least favorites don't exist on albums like these.
