I never understood why everyone hates on Anthony Fontano so much. Maybe I missed something but I've always been watching his reviews.
he is a disgusting racist The Needle Drop pioneered music review vlogs. His lesser-known channel pandered to the alt-right.
Woah. I feel really uncomfortable after reading that. Seriously where did all these alt right people come from....I swear 12 months ago I had never even heard that term before. Those were simpler times.
they were always there, they just didn't openly talk about how racist they were. this is what happens when things get normalized
The Japanese release has a demo of Red Door as a bonus track, but i haven't seen it surface anywhere.
My best friend and I lost a close buddy to suicide about a month ago and "Hurt Less" is basically us when we go for long drives two or three times a week.
Three days til I see Julien live for the first time. Also my first ever in-store gig. Haven’t been to London since I was 13, so that’ll be interesting and all. I have to leave at half 8 in the morning and catch 3 trains to get there on time. I’ve no doubt I’ll be worth it.
Right, following my first trip to see Julien last night, a wee bit of extra info. She was amazing. I was second row from the front and was so close to her. Came onstage about 21:15 and was finished about 22:30 (which is good as I had a two hour car journey home ) She played: 1. Appointments 2. Happy To Be Here 3. 100 Dollars (Manchester Orchestra cover) 4. Everybody Does 5. Sprained Ankle 6. Shadowboxing 7. Sour Breath 8. Funeral Pyre 9. Televangelist 10. Hurt Less 11. Rejoice 12. Turn Out the Lights 13. Something Go Home was on the printed setlist before Rejoice but was cut, in favour of playing 100 dollars earlier in the set (would have loved to hear Go Home but nevermind!). She said she plays 100 dollars when she feels nervous as it's only 3 chords lol - compared to Bristol the night before, she said she could see every face in the crowd so I would imagine that would add to her anxiety. She had a bit of banter with the crowd which was nice and said it was really special to be sharing the room and coming together with everyone, when the songs are about isolation and feeling alone. Spent a small fortune on merch - got 2 tshirts (£25 each), an enamel pin (£10) & a tote bag (£10). Also bought the orange variant vinyl of TOTL for a friend which was £25. Nearly bought one for myself - but I only spent £15 on the pink splatter version so felt I couldn't really justify an extra twenty five quid for a record I already own. I managed to video every song so I'll try and upload/rip the audio as she sounds pretty good on it - the 100 dollars is definitely a better version than the one floating around youtube.
Would love to hear/see this as the Leeds show would have been the one I went to. Sad to miss out now I read your write up but glad you enjoyed it.
No problem - I'll post the link up when I have it! You planning on seeing her with Belle & Sebastian?
Potentially but my main problem is the logical place to go is Nottingham (I live in Sheffield)... that date happens to be the day before Mothering Sunday. Which is bad news when you're married to a florist. I usually end up doing a lot of work that weekend to support her - late nights, deliveries, market runs. Very unfortunate! We could potentially go to the Monday show in Manchester though. I've never really listened to Belle & Sebastian so it feels like a lot of money.
Ahh yeah that sounds like a bit of a nightmare. My sister in law is a florist so I know all these events can be manic! Same - I just ended up picking the cheapest seats in Gateshead but it was still £30! I'm leaving the husband at home haha. Hopefully B & S will be okay.
As the resident biggest fan of MO.....I have to say Julien owns this cover the way Adele owned Make You Feel My Love and Cash with Hurt.
