Julien and Phoebe are both top 5 records of the year. That’s about as far as I can take the comparison between them.

 

Only one thing to say: Holy shit "Happy To Be Here."

 

This is a good album. My favorites so far are Televangelist, Everything that Helps You Sleep, and Even.

 

"Even" too, of course.

 

Yep. Them and Jagjuguwar are the only labels that I'll instantly listen to a new release from based on label name alone.

I don't listen to every release or anything but Dead Oceans and Jagjaguwar are certainly my 2 favorite labels by far

tiny engines and topshelf are like 90%ers for me but DDW is spotless for the last year and a half plus

mostly just because of the number of releases tho

I had no idea. Checked their roster... not really to my taste, but I think it's awesome that people still have "favorite" labels. I remember the golden days of Drive Thru and Fueled By Raman, nice to know that type of fan devotion still matters.

 

i'm curious how that isn't to your taste based on the other two, DDW is an indie rock label, i mean even mitski went to dead oceans and she's very much representative of that label as a whole

 

Have you heard the Gordi album? I think you'd like that a lot if you're into this release.

 

Ohhhh yeah. "Heaven I Know" and "I'm Done" are 2 of my favorite songs of the year

 

Idk I wasn't trying to be negative, just didn't see much that stood out to me. Of the bands on their "Family" page, I've heard the most recent Bellows, Cende, LVL Up, Told Slant, and Frankie Cosmos releases. Only really liked the Frankie Cosmos one.

 

Same! "I'm Done" in particular is a killer song. Those two tracks remind me most of that Staves album that came out a few years ago, which might have been part of the reason for my infatuation.

 

Anything with Sean Carey is automatically great. Her whole album has some 22, A Million type flavor. Which makes sense because her cover of "00000 Million" was the first thing I heard from her

 

This. Is. Good.

 

Yea this is really growing on me.

This and Slaughter Beach, Dog are amazing
