Well yeah, but I still would think those songs would be similar indication of what's gonna be on the record. I'm not against the piano, looped guitars, voice and all the reverb/delays that will definitely come along with it. But jJust some light drums, bass, along with those strings and whatever else would be nice. Just a couple songs, sort of like SA but maybe a little more featured/prominant would prevent it all being to similar. That's just the problem I've been having with her stuff lately, all good/great songs that are dripping with honest emotion, but just kind of blend together to me. Just a small personal gripe. I'm sure she is a good enough song writer to make it work however, just a preference.
I'm sure she's going add some other shows, if not a whole other leg (What a weird term for a tour: leg)
I think a Julien baker band sound will come eventually. I saw Elliott Smith and he had a band with him playing songs from Either/Or. It was so great
I expect this album to be a very logical evolution from Sprained Ankle. I think the new aspects will come in the form of production value, some different arrangements (with the brass and woodwinds), and even tighter songwriting.
I almost kind of hope for a vocal only track. Kind of like Creeks from 22, A Million. That could be cool.
haha i was wrong about that it was woodwinds! don't get too excited, but come on you know you want to hear clarinets and flutes
I'm probably going to post some variation of this statement many times before the album comes out, but I am so ridiculously excited. Sprained Ankle means so much to me.
Yeah Turn Out The Lights is infinitely better than SA, if that's what you were clarifying. Also, lots of orchestral sounds on it, as per earlier discussion in thread.
Oooo Philly show is on the 29th, right after the album drops. Very excited to hear a bunch of new songs!
I really didn't plan on listening to Appointments more than once before the album dropped, but I don't think I can resist a music video.
Flipping heck. The tears in her eyes in the first 45 seconds of the video have made me tear up at work. DAMN that girl can move me.
the part where the hand comes in from out of frame was such a visually striking surprise. I loved that I'm a dancer and it's hard for me to not look at this with a super critical eye but I know that's not the point. the concept of this video is really awesome
