The show is great, have fun! She’s such a good performer live, and the rest of the band kills it too.
Seeing her at the same venue she performed at in 2018 was like night and day. Three years ago, it was basically just her onstage. She smiled once because her guitar strap wouldn’t latch, then basically didn’t say another word. The crowd also was kind of small and unresponsive. This time, the place was packed and reactive. The band added a lot to her sound and although she was nervous, she joked around and smiled a lot. I really hope that things are better for her. Reading that zine is heartbreaking. By all accounts, she’s an incredibly friendly, inclusive person that is so hard on herself.
Just an FYI this is an old song that was a Spotify single from last year. Only now released on other platforms.
All these year end lists coming out, it's really disappointing to see this album getting universally ignored. It's probably my least favorite album of hers, but it's still really good. The fact that Hardline couldn't even crack Pitchfork's Top 100 Songs list is baffling.
I do wish this got more recognition, but on the upside it seems like it’s really Lucy’s year, and that’s awesome
I think will probably come out as 1 or 2 for me, but I only really listened to handful of albums this year.
It will scrape into my top 10. Good album but would have liked it more if she leaned into the post-rock side a bit more. As it stands, I much prefer her more stripped down sound from previous albums as that helps me engage with the emotion. I’m surprised how little I can engage emotionally with this album considering the topics covered actually.
It would've been guaranteed a top 3 spot, but because I'm gonna include the Taylor's Version albums, it'll be 4 or 5. Didn't hit me right away like her last couple in spite of loving the full band approach, but a bunch of the songs have stuck with me throughout the year. [Yes, I'm putting two re-recorded Taylor Swift albums in my top 5. No, I do not regret a single thing about that decision. Just be happy CHVRCHES is getting my #1 spot instead of Fearless, which wasn't a guarantee until pretty recently.] [Oh, and since I've given away the other 4, I'll mention the other album in my top 5 is TAO by Shad.]
She’s getting my #5 spot. Incredible album. My most listened to on Spotify due to coming out early in the year.
I liked the album a lot but its hard to say why its not a regular rotator. I guess its a hard end-to-end listen for some reason.
I think the themes of addiction and self-destructive behaviors made it one of the saddest and bleakest albums I’ve heard. I think it made it hard to listen to casually. I had to really like be in the mood or prep myself to put it on.
The full band addition made this one easier to listen to more for me, but yeah, have to be in *that* mood definitely
