yeah i'm pretty enamored. faith healer is the low point but even that one isn't bad. everything else is just so good

 

Personally, I think Highlight Reel is the gut punch of the album. So sad, really fucks you up after Repeat already got you.

Highlight Reel is awesome

 

Sometimes I listen to an album and think “was this made just for me?” And that’s how I feel about this album. It’s fucking great.

 

It looks like a serial killer’s drawings tbh.

 

The only songs I don't love (but still like a lot) are Song in E and Faith Healer. Everything else is phenomenal. My favorites now are probably Bloodshot, Ziptie, and Relative Fiction.

 

Honestly how I feel every single time a song comes on.

 

The drawings are very unsettling, haha.

 

Is it just me or is the vocal melody at the beginning of Favors SUPER familiar....? It is driving me nuts but I swear I've heard something like it before...

wow. this whips ass and is Extremely My Shit. instantly my favorite of hers I think

 

This album is perfect. I was kinda in the
“Pretty good” camp at first but it has grown on me a ton already. Especially with good headphones.

 

(Can’t remember if I made a similar version of this post already) it’ll be a long time before I can compare this to the other records, but even if it doesn’t land as my *favorite* Julien album I’ll probably be able to call it her best.

 

the back half of this record is absolutely stunning. utterly perfect merge between the "newer" sounds she introduced with the more sparse instrumentation of her earlier works.

 

Man, I just love how she experiments with the vocal melody in live performances of this song. An absolute stunner.

Guthrie is pretty but I can see why it was left off

 

I wouldn't take it over anything on the actual album but it's still damn good.
