I think I was too sleepy when I listened last night. This album's really hitting me hard this morning.
on my second listen this morning and i definitely like this more than totl. lyrics are great, love the varied instrumentation. very glad i held out on all the prerelease tracks.
Listened last night at about 1AM. Whenever one of my favorite artists releases something I get really in my own head listening to it the first time, so it's gonna take a few more for me to actually formulate an opinion, haha. But it's good.
I think the only song that didnt wow me is Crying Wolf. I've caved, putting in an order for the vinyl now.
Upon first few spins, this is my least favorite album of her three, but still absolutely phenomenal. 1. Sprained Ankle 2. TOTL 3. Little Oblivions
Haven't been connecting with this album as much as the other two. Will have to agree with the rankings of the person above me. Sprained Ankle was consistent. TOTL had some incredible highs with the singles. Little Oblivion has some really cool moments but there are not a handful of songs I really love love yet. Will give it more time. Sad her vocals are a little difficult to hear/understand on some of the tracks.
TOTL is her best for me. But I'm not ranking anything after this has been out for 10 hours. It's phenomenal.
Reading along with the lyrics helped me when I could not understand some of the lyrics being sung, but I also had that issue with some of the songs at first.
speaking of which Tatiana has a nice review of this up at AV Club Julien Baker's Little Oblivions is her most vulnerable record yet
Saw this on Twitter as well and agree, thought the inclusion of Olivia Rodrigo in the review was a bit odd.
